Do you think it's worth "upgrading" an emitter from a T6 to a U2/U3?

No, unless you are not satisfied with the tint.

The difference will 90% of the time be imperceptible and you’d only really have it for bragging rights.

Really? I would think there would be SOME visible difference.

Let alone T6; :stuck_out_tongue: I will never ever buy flashlights with U2, while there is U3 and now xm-l2 and also MK-R

since xml2 is out ,no.

+1

I’m thinking maybe, with a caveat, it depends on the t6.

I’ve fitted three of the 4a intloutdoor drivers, on my own m10 I replaced the t6 with a u3. On the ramping mode, you can perceive it getting brighter against a wall from mid to high.

The second m10 has a star marked u2. I’ve not played with it enough yet…

I also fitted one in a ke-5 with a t6. You can perceive little difference between the midway flash at 2.5 ish amp and the max at 3.7a. This may be the led not doing well at such high current, i may fit a u3 in this tbh, but I’ve been using it on test all week at work and to be fair, I rarely set it above mid due to the work conditions. In this case I actually may get a t6 3c, possibly nicer tint and better suited to task.

I’d say no, unless you have a crappy t6 at the bottom of binning, but you need to know the u2/u3 is near the top of the binning in comparison. Welcome to the lottery…

Oh, I’m not voting as I need a “maybe” option - its just not clear cut till u3’s become available with more tint options, I like the tint of the ONE I’ve fitted, but that just maybe blind luck, others ended up with a greenish tint from the same supplier.

Thanks for your votes and replies guys.
I haven’t put a maybe option because I felt everyone was going to pick it.

I hope there are some NW U3 tints, as they are indeed quite rare. (I think)

Cheers!

xml2…hum never heard of it….Any replacement of emitters in current models soon? Any gains in lumes?

Where have you been? :stuck_out_tongue:

We’re all very excited about the XM-L2.
