Duff driver ?

On my Romisen RC-F4, which uses 2 x 123 cells, I am only getting 1.8V, so can I assume the driver board is us ?.
When buying in that case a new driver does any driver of the correct voltage/function and size do the job.
On this light there was no heat sink stuff on the led, does this damage them, or would they just go us completely, ie either work 100% or not at all.
Thanks

1.6v? Where are you measuring? Across the two cells you should see 6v or if their 16340’s 8.4v, fully charged, at the emitter I’d generally expect about 3v or so.

Do you mean 1.6a? What emitter are you using?

Regarding driver swaps, your on the ball, find an appropriate voltage driver, make sure its the right diameter and meant for the correct amount of emitters - if its one that’s what you want, if its 3 in series, you may have to wire parallel etc.

Hi Matey,
Only just got a working phone line back today!!
I’m measuring at the led itself with 2 x R123 cells of 3.7V, it is a simple on/off driver but only giving me 1.8Volts.

Yep, I’d say there’s a problem, it could be the emitter has burnt out due to inadequate heat sinking or the driver could have gone duff. If your fancying doing a mod as a learning exercise.

Order an equivalent emitter (star size –16mm/20mm etc) and a driver the right diameter and cell count (voltage, 4.2v 1 cell, 8.4v two cell) and current for your emitter, change one part at once and don’t forget to get some thermal paste, I use diamond paste from maplin as it saves waiting on an order.

I’d also take the opportunity to order a nw emitter and have a play with them, I really like the 4c xp-g I just fitted in a trustfire t2.

Hi,
Thanks for the advice, sadly this will have to wait now, as other things going on!!
