Still looking for a light! I'm lost!!!

I ended up not getting the Xin TD for Christmas like I had imagined so I was planning on just ordering that but I am still lost. I think that the Xin TD has too much throw and that I won’t end up liking it very much. I am looking for a more floody light with a bit of throw but not much. I will be using it mostly up close so throw to me isn’t important.

Here’s some requirements:
-Under $50
-Under 7” long
–18650 batteries
-Tactical look
–1000+ Lumens
-White beam (6000k)

I just ordered this one . The small reflector should be quite floody .

Good luck with your search .

A P60 host of some kind would probably be a good bet. So a Solarforce L2, a XM-L drop in, and one of the really spiky bezels. ;)

Way too small for what I am looking for, but thanks for your suggestion!

I was looking at Solarforce L2’s before and really liked the style of them. How about something like this solarforceflashlight-sales.com. It has a nice OP reflector as well as the exact body style I am looking for.

Sky ray King!!!

That would work but one of the M3 heads would be better, since they use a different better LED.

This one is exactly 49.99.

Hello Whiteout,

I happen to own all three lights in question: the C-8 XinTD sc-82, the Solarforce M3, and about 4 solarforce L2P’s and An L2T and a couple of L2N’s (one L2p had the masterpiece pro 1 head on it). Think the M3 has the edge on looks, durability and parts replacement should something happen to the body/tailcap. other than that they (XinTD and SF M3)are very close in performance. The L2’s I have are all XML U2 dropins, three mode (HIGH, MEDIUM, LOW) with mode memory and will run on 18650 OR 2X CR123. Most multi mode dropins only use 18650. Until now the only dropins I fount to the either 18650 or 2X CR123’s were single mode only! If there is a concern for too much throw start with a Solarforce L2P (L2T, L2N…which ever you like best, choose which color, choose forward or reverse clicky). You can add bezel rings and tail caps later.Try the XML-U2 dropin I described, currently 2 for $29.98, (never hurts to have a back up…or a reason to buy another light). It is a good quality light, you can play leggos later as budget and experiance dictate. This particular dropin offers flexability as far as output level and battery choice…you don’t want to buy rechargable batteries and a charger right now, you don’t have to…go with 2X CR123’s. So I say the L2 series, “try it, you’ll like it! but be ye warned…it’s like a Barbie Doll…without accessories!

I’ll throw my hat in for the Shiningbeam Blaze. Bryan at SB recently re-introduced a new, brighter version called the ‘Blaze X’. It has an EXCELLENT mix of flood and throw. It has the perfect all-around use beam pattern, imo. It throws a broader hotspot a little ways further than an XM-L in a Solarforce P60 host. With $2.50 shipping it’s at the top end of your price range. However the head-twist method of mode changing more than makes up for the price difference between it and an XM-L in a P60 host. It comes with 2 sets of switches and O-rings, and a holster-you get what you pay for.
