What specific characteristics do C8 flashlights have in common?

I’ve only just gotten into the 18650 market so haven’t been too exposed to past generations of C8 lights. The only one I own, is a recently purchased XinTD, V3 light from intl-outdoor for $29.95. From my experience, it’s a really GOOD light however, I see other lights available with similar external looks some costing as little as $11 and I’m wondering if they are worth the money too.

  • What are the specific characteristis that make a light ‘C8’?
  • Who made the first C8 type light?
  • Which C8 light do you own? Link?

Ultimately, I’d actually like to make a list of the different C8 flashlights with links and phtos showing differences.

Thanks BLF!

They have the name C8. ;) Seriously, they all have: a screw in pill, a reflector, and they all run off a 18650.

And same size head/reflector and usually a distinctive style.

Some of the cheaper ones are a lottery, as an example, I have a q5 version, for some reason it always starts on SOS……not for much longer as my driver order came in last Friday.

I still like it, its one of my most used lights (work light) but if I’d paid more than six or seven quid I’d have been miffed. It does take the brass c8 pill though, so I may end up with a q5 and an xm-l set up where I just need to swap pill/reflector to change the light from run time to max output.

scaru: lol. I truly didn’t think of the simplest answer: “They have the name C8”
