[28-DEC-2012] Configuration changes to reduce downtime

Hi everyone,

Sorry for the frequent errors this week. I finally identified a major issue with one thread that was causing some processes to crash and hang, which was partially responsible for the frequent periods of inaccessibility.

Additionally, I reworked the way an internal housekeeping script is executed to further reduce the probability of too many SQL requests and PHP processes stacking up on top of each other.

I also optimized the caching system to be faster and more responsive.

Please let me know how it works for you in the next few days. As always, thanks a lot for your patience! Have fun.

As always, thanks for all the great work!

Can i expand the D25LC2 review thread? ;)

 This particular problem was caused by an extremely long quote, for which I found a patch. However, your review is another issue that I still need to look into. I hope to get to it soon. Sorry for the hassle.

i would want to expand the review (easily) by another 30% in length, i.e. from "100" to "130" :D

thanks!

I don’t know what you said but, I’ll let you know if anything behaves funny. Thanks sb56637!

Just got some weird error for a minute or two.

Thanks! Bug stomping is quite satisfying. 8)

Ditto - Just saw the same message. Refresh and it went away.

What thread was it…everyone wants to know

It might help us to avoid posting these kinds of problems in the future.

It has to be that “999” thread of Lumatic’s. That’s the root cause I bet.

Burn the witch! J)

Just got it a second time but for longer.

That is what i’ve been getting for a while now. It just happened again for about 4 mins.

I still dont get it why you don`t extend your review in the next post…
just break it in half, and there you go… ??

Me too. Twice.

Must be because i am kinda anal i guess ;)

Yeah, sorry about that. I hit quote on the OP and after I posted it went all 500 :frowning:

No need to apologize to me, Jalben. I just find it funny/ironic that the non-posting post was the catalyst for a problem. Oh ya, when I said “burn the witch”, I meant Lumatic and not you.

And besides, these things are just par for the course with modern technology, so all we can do is poll with it.

Hmmm, anybody else seen this specific error today (Saturday)? Thanks for reporting!

Both Cone and eebower said they got the same thing. (Above in this thread)
