Double Aspheric Thrower-310kcd!!!

I recently purchased 2 lenses from ma_sha, they came premounted together. I just received them and decided I wanted to put them to good use, and quickly. I already had some XR-Es on the way but didn't feel like waiting, so I taped it onto a wooden board along with my X6.

On the right is the Stanley Fatmax XM-L which does around 110kcd. On the left is my monster. This is at a distance of 50 yards, not enough for them to really stretch their legs; but it was the best I could do.

Once the XR-Es arrive it will throw even further.

Nice Scaru, glad to see you put it to good use

XRE will give a pretty tiny spot, this looks like a good sized hot spot, have fun

That's crazy bright.

hold in one spot too long the branches will catch fire.

Now that’s some throw!!

I should have pulled the trigger on those lenses :frowning:

How far apart are the lenses ?

Very close (I’d guess around an inch), Ma_sha mounted them for me so I don’t have any exact measurements.

Can you show us the lenses?

If u decide to sell or trade for them send me a pm

I do have some of these if ever interested

That looks fantastic as is, Scaru! XR-E would too laser thin for my liking but that looks incredible! You have a light meter to measure the Lux?

Sorry Nitro, not for sale. :P

Here some photos of my jurry rigged thrower are.

Sorry about the crappy iphone pics.

Yep, I just went and measured at 4 meters and got 47kcd which calculates back to 188kcd. While the XR-E will definitely be a laser beam, it will throw further. ;) Just working towards my new years resolution of 500kcd.

Edit: I screw up the measurements somehow and the "real" measurement is 310kcd measured at 10 meters and calculated back.

188kcd?? Wow! 8)

That's a cool setup there scaru, try soup cans, tin snips and duct tape for a makeshift bezel.I did! I have been dying to try an XPG-2 in an aspheric setup, have you considered that?

It might be unrelated, but what’s the lowest reading that you have on the hot spot?

LED flux per mm^2 at 350 mah

XP-G 75.51

XP-G2 86.73

XM-L 42.5

XM-L2 45.5

XR-E 140.74

XP-E 139

XP-E2 142

XP-G2 produces much less light per mm2. I may try the XP-E2 though as it does beat the XR-E.

even at 50 yards its bright...

Might as well put a friggin telescope in front of the torch. I have attempted this and with plenty of maneuvering to find the focal point its a cool effect?

That’s awesome!!

Wow!that was quick, good to know because I have been fooling around with some lenses.I have to say,the MTG2 looks like a stop sign with bullet holes in it under an aspheric, lol.

Try XP-C. On paper it should be the hottest.
