Pelican M6 led drop-in?

I have Pelican M6 LED. Considering that it used 2 CR123 batteries it does not put out much light compared to modern lights.
I had read previously that although some drop ins will fit they will not work with the Pelican tail switch.

Anyone know of a drop in that would work with the current tail switch and provide significant improvement as to output?

Thanks,
Jerry

that thread has some info on it. it seems with little effort a p60 module will fit in it

i dont see how the switch could be a problem with a dropin??

and the low output isnt due to the cr123a

that would be a good dropin to look at. you want to make sure that the input voltage of the dropin is in range of the batteries. two primary cr123a will be 6v, but if you go rechargeable it could be up to 8.4v.
im not saying buy that one, but something comparable to that would be good

Thanks, Pulsar,
I saw the switch problem from an old thread on CPF. After thinking about it, the Pelican M6 is a single mode so maybe the tail switch is not set up to change modes. I do not know enough to ferret out that problem.

I think that I will just forget it, and leave the Pelican as is. I never u se it anyway, and in fact don’t use but very few of the lights I have. Only the single AAA get any use.

Thanks, again,
Jerry

it may be that the switch cant handle the current of a hard driven xml? almost all (with a few exceptions, some ramping SF and energizer lights, and some others im sure) dont have the electronics in the switch to change modes, but cutting the power to the driver quickly changes modes.

anyway, not a bad looking light

Thanks, again,
Jerry

Any chance the M6 changed emitters since you bought it? Pelican has a very liberal lifetime warranty for their lights, so if you can find a way to blow either the emitter or the driver (hint: the last I looked they did not recommend using rechargeable CR123A’s), they will replace it for free, but not worth the hassle if the emitter is the same.

Just a thought.

I have no idea re the emitter.
I will just put it aside since I don’t use it anyway.
Thanks,
Jerry
