Fandyfire UV-S5 driver replacement help needed

Hy guys, i’ve been reading this forum for almost two years but i never posted. Now i need your help. Well one of my lights – Fandyfire UV-S5 is defective and i want to replace the driver in it but i dont find a driver that fits in it. You will probably ask how it got defective so i will tell now. I ordered two of them from dx, 1 for me and one for my boss. When they arrived at the postal office i went with him to pick them up and(while i was not paying attention) he inserted the 4×18650 wrong(it was his first light) – 2 normally + to the driver, and 2 upside down – to the driver. This made the bottom springs change color and the flashlight works but 1 led is on high and the other 2 is on med and cant change trough modes. Can anyone help me finding a proper driver for it? Thanks

No direct replacement driver AFAIK, you may need to buy three normal drivers and wire them together in master-slave config. Not the easiest mod to do.

I wonder why the driver is burnt, your “boss” obviously completed 8.4V short circuit inside the battery/body compartment, that should severely stress the springs and batteries but not the driver.

I am pretty sure it’s your batteries that are bad now after the severe short circuit. Try different batteries.

for your response. I already tried changing the batteries and is the same. Maybe it was defective in the first place??????? i don’t know the fact is it doesn’t work. With the 3 driver you mentioned you think you(or other guys here) can assist couse i think i wanna try it. I have an aurora ak-p7-4-2modes and a fandyfire 2130 and i have 2 x KD 8×7135 V2 already shipped but not here yet. I was thinking about trying to update those 2 lights. The point is if you think the drivers are ok for the uv-s5 i’ll buy another and we may give it a shot.

It sounds like the emitter is getting very low voltage, as one led barely turns on and the other two is on low.

There’s possibility that the burnt spring becomes highly resistive after what happened. Maybe you want to try connecting batteries directly using wires to the driver PCB.

If it smells burned you would most probably be able to locate the bad part on the driver by searching for the heat-source and replace it on the driver. Seems like the short went through some parts of the driver and grilled them. With a bit of luck its an easily replaceable part.

But there is always the possibility to contact your vendor or the manufacturer to get a replace.
When i destroyed my FandyFire Rook Driver i got a replacement from the manufacturer :
ShenZhen BlackShadow Technology Co.,Ltd.
In my case i made an order about some other stuff at one of there distributors (CNQG) and they send them the driver for free to include into the shipment to germany. Great service in my view.

Another posibility would be to check if the DrJones driver for use with electronic switch can be used. Dont know if you can get them to run 3xparalel. Would have the advantage of an greatly improved UI.

Good luck – i know it feels bad when your light dies due to error but also you have now a reason to fiddle with it too make it better – afterall thats what most of us like to do – isn’t it?
