Hobby King soldering station in stock

The soldering station from Hobby King that is always sold out is now back in stock. I have this station and am quite pleased with it. I’m just a rookie at soldering, but I was able to solder a wire to a single 7135 chip leg. Before I had trouble just getting a wire soldered to the pads made for that purpose.

That soldering station and this silicone wire made a world of difference.

thanks for sharing… just ordered one… lol the shipping charges is more than the product itself

edit: don’t click buy yet… just keep hang in around in that page for few mins… then a small pop up window will com up on the right bottom… and it says” you ve been watching this item for awhile, if you click it now… the price is $1 less ”

whats shipping on it?

S&H to Canada came to a whopping 35 bucks; to my old address in the US (southern Illinois) the shipping cost was a bit more reasonable at $13 via USPS or$15 via UPS.

$13 and change for 5-6 USPS
$16 for UPS small package…( dunno the shipping time though)

where else can you buy lathe and drill press f0r under a $!00

What is wrong with me, I'm actually semi-interested in that thing.

oooh nice… if only i know how to use it… lol
hmm… maybe we ought to buy this one for Old-Lumen

Thanks for the heads up dct73.

I had been in need of a soldering station for some time now. I just couldn’t help myself with that good of deal shipped from the US. Had a few bonus points that had been laying around at hobbyking for a year. Finally got to use them for a even sweeter deal.

Glad to be of help. I should have mentioned it takes Haako style tips easily found on ebay. The tip that comes with it is rather small. And keep the tip cleaned and tinned, LOL. Otherwise you might think it’s not getting hot!

Just saw this thread. I am in the market for a new iron. It's the same model I have on my wishlist from Amazon which lists for $42, so at $16, it's a bargain. Problem is they are out of stock. Any one know how often they restock? I put my name on the email notification, but don't want to wait for 6 months.

Duh, I was wondering …… what did I do wrong. Help! So I went to the Link above for the soldering station, and was staring at it, and this little message window pops up and says I can have it for like 15 dollars something, so I put it in the cart, then hit the PayPal thingy and then it asks for my Zip, which I enter, then PayPal opens up, and I login and pay for the thing, then nothing …. so I go to PayPal, and nothing there about it. I mean, PayPal has my sending address, some sites just use the PayPal shipping info. Now I did not make a user account at Hobby King, but I don’t always have to. I bought from mouser.com a while back, and did not set up a user account and just paid through PayPay, and it worked. So, now I am wondering with Hobby King … duh, what?

Im in need of a station… I signed up to be notified when its back in stock

Thanks

That iron is a Hakko clone, it looks identical to my iron. Shipping kills it for me though…

Can you log into your Paypal account to make sure you sent payment to Hobby King?

Yes, I have one of these, branded Aoyue. I’ve had it a few years now and it’s still working. It’s no Weller, but it’s a very good iron for the price.

Oh, looking at it again, mine has two LEDs and a power switch on the front. But it’s close enough and is also model 936.

I purchased this hobby king soldering station back in January. Works way better than my irons. Tips can be had on ebay and heats up quick, within a minute or so. The only thing I don’t like is the cord is not long enough to the handle for me. Could have used a extra foot or so.
From the comments on hobbyking it looks like they restock (USA) about ever 3 weeks to a month. That’s just a guess from what I saw in the comments. For the money its hard to beat.

It looks like it’s out of stock. Maybe that’s why you can’t pay for it. I think shipping was almost as much as the soldering station itself, so my order with shipping was $28.

still cheaper than amazon… amazon is 42 + 14 for shipping!

I'm no expert on soldering as a few of the members here know from my constant nagging to make me solder like a Pro. I did buy this Iron from Hobby King with Aus delivery when it came into stock from an email reminder. Whether I'm getting better at soldering which I think I am from all the support and videos from this forum, I reckon this Iron has a lot to do with it along with the aforementioned education. Others may not think much of this Iron from the low price but it has helped me a lot once you get used to the different currents. Good luck to you all.
