Anyone know of a decent budget outdoor LED light bulb?

Have a few outdoor sensor lights that come on a bit. I like that if someone pulls in my driveway, i know it.
I mistakenly bought some CFL ones and by the time they warm up and produce a respectable amount of light its too late.

Its a standard PAR38 fixture.

I see a few at Lowes that run about $20 bucks.

Fasttech seems to not have any outdoor ones.

Any suggestions from anyone?

You can decide how much flood vs throw, etc. Id probably stick to Halogen though as they are instant brightness, cheap, and their lower life doesnt matter since the light is relatively rarely used.
It would be nice to know exactly how much wattage your fixture can take.

The CFLs arent necessary awful either. CFLs can produce a LOT of lumens for the wattage AND the volume (unlike LEDs).
This means your 75 Watt outdoor fixture could power up one of these bad boyz:

5800 lumens! Sure takes a while to warm up but even intial lumens is really high. Note it won’t be directional light though, so keep that in mind. Also, unless fixture is somewhat protected the bulb will be vulnerable.

Ive got one of those for my garage as a worklight and man does it kick butt. (make sure to get a MEDIUM socket, NOT A MOGUL ONE)

I have seen some LED outdoor “sensor spot lights” that you put over your garage door or on the side of your house at Home Depot and Lowes. Haven’t tried them out yet, but curious if anyone has.

Here is a link to one at Home Depot by Utilitech:

Seems to put out a lot of lumens, but no idea of quality or wattage use.

Thanks for all the replies guys. I appreciate it.

I still have to check the max wattage of the fixture out there, and might also consider replacing the damn thing too.

Is this one OK for outdoor use? Doesn’t appear to be in the specs.

Check out these listings. This seller sells Home Depot store returns for cheap. They have dual LED bulb outdoor motion lights for real cheap. I have a couple hundred LED bulbs from them in my house…

For budget outdoor LED lighting you have a look at the catalogue and pricelist share on Shopelect.com the popular electrical online store.

The OP is from 2013 and the newer ‘corkscrew’ CFL’s start faster now. But LED (or halogen) is still a better option.
