Issue with TF Mini 01- Resolved, Alu shaving in driver

The light won’t shut off. As soon as the tail touches the head, it comes on. I assume this means the ground ring on the driver is shorting to the body of the head but cannot see how it could do otherwise. Any thoughts? Others with same issue?

Could it have anything to do with battery length?

Ground on the driver should be fully isolated, otherwise this happens. The contact probably is on the driver side e.g wire slanted to the side connecting the body to ground. Time to open it up…

Try to screw in or out the driver a bit, this will solve this issue.
I had that problem a while ago too, take a small screwdriver or similar to do it.
When the driver rotates a bit it makes contact with the body so it is always on, rotate it back and it will again turn only on when screwed down completely.

I desoldered the led an pulled the driver and there was an aluminum shaving wrapped around a wire. I think it was shorting something on the board to the pill. Also, I think I’m going to replace the led with a Nichia 219 and the driver with a 1.4A 101-AK as this was a stock TF Mini with H-L-Strobe.
