No. If you had read a few of the latest posts you would have discovered that the light has just now started shipping. The original shipment was recalled (before actually being shipped) due to some defects.

Even for products shipping from China, 45 days from the time of order, is a reasonable amount of time to deliver. Opening a dispute does not equate to opening a claim. What it does do, is extend the window during which you can open a claim, so that you can work out the problem with the seller. Having been burned before (seller simply disappeared and over 60 days had passed), I find it best to protect myself, and open a dispute once 43-44 days have passed from the time of the order. During the past three years, of actively buying things from china, on a fairly regular basis (probably 300+ transactions), I have only had to open disputes half a dozen times, and of those only one had to be escalated to a claim. In that case, the seller also simply dissapeared, despite having had a stellar reputation previously. That said, if only 3-4 weeks from the time of the order passed, it’s far too early to panic.

Because of this product recall, a delivery delay will arise and Ric may soon face “technical” disputes over it. If I paid him April 5th and item was only shipped on April 26th, this adds 3 weeks to the whole process. Another product that I ordered took 33 days to ship from China and that was without any known delays. But PayPal only has a 45 day limit for disputes. So buyers beware…

I actually forgot about this for a week, been having a lot going on. Hopefully shipping this time is for cereal, I could use a delivery to dampen the severe amount of saving I have opted to start doing.

My tracking number just got updated to “Information Received” on Singpost today…doesn’t mean it’s en route, but it’s a step forward!

Hi,

Thanks for the update. I just checked USPS.com, and my numbers still not working there, but then I went to singpost.com, and it says similar to yours:

RFXXXXXXXXXSG - 29-04-2013 INFORMATION RECEIVED
(This is not an acknowledgment of the physical receipt of the stated Registered Article)

I confess.
I’m a fence sitter.
Eagerly awaiting someone to actually have this in their hands.
To tell us if it’s great or not.

But every notification that comes into my email turns out to be another fizzer.
Another, “nearly here”, “I’ve got a tracking number”.

Don’t care – can we stop the prick-teasing – please?

Rant over, and I feel better now. Sorry Smile

Hopefully by the time these are delivered RIC should already have the XM-L2 NW version ready for shipping Wink

This evening I got a call from DHL courier saying I'll get a package. Sounds great! I wonder if it's from Ric, since I haven't got the tracking number yet. Surprised

Let's see what it contains..

Ok. Two BTUs. Hmm.. Let's open those small boxes..

Whoaa!! They do exist! Cool

First impressions (and a bit more - I bet you are too anxious to wait for the full review, so..)
- These things are small!! (see comparison pic at the end of this post)
- Some 18650s won't fit. The length is not an issue, but thickness may be:
    - Panasonic 3100mAh didn't fit to either of those
    - XTAR 18700 2600mAh did fit to other, but got stuck inside the other
    - TF flames do fit, same as unprotected NCR18650s
    - Tube inner diameter is 18.80mm in one, 19.00mm in other
- No PWM
- Nice tint in both (not green at all, despite of being current controlled!)
- Bright enough, still not overdriven
- Gets hot on high
- Nice low mode (could be even lower for me, but this is good for most)
- Good mode spacing
- Modes are L-M-H, no memory (resets in 5s)
- CW is brighter, as it should
- "Titanium" color looks good (different, not gold, not black)
- Anodizing looks good
- TIR optics seem to work well (a bit ringy spill though)
- Threads were dry, requires lube (especially as being a twisty)

=> Highly recommended (just make sure that your cells will fit!)

Some measurements:

Length: 91.5mm
Head diameter: 24.5mm
Tail diameter: 22.6-22.9mm
Inner diameter: 18.7-19.0mm
Weight: 39-41g (83-85g w. batt)

TC currents:
NW: 0.05, 0.55, 1.90A
CW: 0.05, 0.55, 1.90A

Lumens (OTF):
CW: Initial 650lm. After 30s: 530lm, 200lm, 15lm
NW: Initial 550lm. After 30s: 450lm, 180lm, 14lm (some minutes later: 430lm, very hot)

And finally some more pics.

Black CW & "Titanium" NW

TIR optics

Both opened up:

Nice, Teemu, thanks for sharing!  The titanium doesn't look bad at all.  Great comparison pics.  I thought my S20 Baton was small...WOW!  As soon as Ric gets the XM-L2 NW in stock I'm going to have to get one. 8)

the,

Thanks for all that info… It’s like I was “there” :)…

And, now, I’m glad that I got “one of each”, as both the black and the Ti look very good to me!

Jim

P.S. Can hardly wait!

Quick throw figures:
- Olight S20 Baton ~3kcd
- DQG 18650 NW ~4kcd
- DQG 18650 CW ~5kcd

(measured at 2m, calculated back to 1m)

the,

I was wondering, when you see these on high, is it like “wow”, like you’d react with an SC52? Or, more like “meh”?

Edit: Does that say “www.btulight.com” on the boxes?

Teemu, tks for the details. Any comparison to 1×16340 lights? Can the clip be removed easily?

It's definitely WOW!

SC52 w. 14500 is ~500lm for the first minute. This is way over, and longer time.

SC52 w. 14500 throw is ~4kcd, this is ~5kcd

And yes, it says www.btulight.com in the boxes. Nothing in the light itself.
