Hi! I’m new to this forum and am looking for some collective advise. I’ve recently been given an LED Lenser P7 flashlight. As a serving soldier I have loads of capable torches so its not really of any use to me.
However…. As a keen hunter, currently making a home made NV setup (just for fun really) I DO need what I think would be called an IR Thrower?!
I’m currently modding a Surefire G2 and an Ultrafire 501b with 5w single emitter P60 drop-ins and aspherical lenses and blacked out reflectors.
I was wondering is there anything to be done with the P7? I’m thinking emitter replacement and lens replacement, if such a thing is even possible?!
Welcome the forum Deano. If you can take it apart, we can help you make it rock. There are a few different models of P7 led lensers so what you have may decide what your best options are. I’m sure someone here has the know how to help.
Coolio. I’m currently away from it until next Monday but will have a gander ASAP and poss post some pics to help. I’m hoping the XPG replacement option is a goer as I do like it as a torch but need done IR for my NV setup (which is currently rocking btw!!)
After some research I think the emitter from my P7 is an XR-E 7090 EZ1000 variant. I’m thinking of a replacement, either Red or IR. The IR option seem a a lot less ‘bright’ in comparison. As I understand it this is a fairly simple task, just a one for one swap of the emitter and then using thermal adhesive to reattach to the heat sink…… Does that seem about right?
