Nitecore EA4 L2 (XM-L2) Announcement and Crazy Sale!

Hello All,

We’re very happy to announce this exclusive batch of XM-L2’d EA4s!

I’ve been working on getting these done since I got my first XM-L2, and am quite pleased with the results.

We’ve only been able to boost the output to over 950 OTF lumens (models vary slightly), but this results in lower heat during operation!

Of course, to get the ball rolling we’re going crazy with the discounts.
Take 25% off the current price on the website!

This applies to the EA4, EA4W, EA4 L2, and even the EC25 and EC25W.

Use Coupon Code “iscrazy”. Wink

I apologize for not being able to compete with international sellers. I have to pay an exorbitant 12.5% for customs fees, though this isn’t as bad as our European friends!
On any profit I make I have to pay California income tax, and Federal income tax. I also have to pay for a business license, pay LLC fees, etc.
The shipping costs listed on my website are very close to what I pay to the USPS, who raised their shipping fees again (a ridiculous amount for international buyers).

Hi Rick,
No plans at this current time regarding the EA8s – I haven’t even gotten them in hand yet!

I cannot compete with HK shipping costs. that 17$ would be the USPS’s fault, not mine. if I could offer lower cost shipping, I would.

Great way to compete. Offer something a little better than everyone else. I’m still wanting one of these, if I.get one it will be from you. Now if you put a xpg2 in a Nitecore EC1 I probably couldn’t resist Smile

that’s the original EA4 – the XM-L2 version is the EA4 L2 and the slightly higher price.

it really is. but its the truth. there is no way a us dealer can compete with chinese on shipping or price. the only way to make up for it is faster shipping and better customer service.

I knew this would happen. I just purchased 2x of the standard EA4 (which I love) and now something better is available. I love the fact that you're in California! So, I need to ask myself...do I really need 3x EA4's?

cool! not enough $ on hand to upgrade now… i love my ea4w

do you know if an ea4w l2 is in the works?

most of the time i find myself using the 2 lowest modes for practical use so an upgrade of 20-25% isnt necessary… at least not today… ask me again tomorrow and i may cave Smile

Would you mind keeping the wrong flashlight?

I love it when you guys complain about the price being higher in the US. Have any of you guys searched for this light, or any other light for that matter, in the UK? Whatever the price is in Dollars, we just put a pound sign there instead! Rip off Britain!

For example I was looking for an Axe and wanted a Fiskars X27. Best on the market IMO. £147 Amazon UK, $46 Amazon US! I bought it from Amazon US and even with delivery and customs it was only £45! What makes it worse it is made in Finland which is closer to me than you guys!

Thanks for making this great offer available Craig!

I ordered my 1’st EA4 from you and I’m really pleased with it. What I really like about this light is that it’s great for gifting (with Eneloops & charger) to family & friends who wouldn’t be candidates for a Li-Ion battery light.

Can you buy the XM-L version from Fasttech for $9 less? Yes. $9 folks, come on; for a US based retailer and the newer LED?

Complete no-brainer for me! Like itguy08 said ``I’d rather pay a few $$ for your superior service than save a few $$.``

If you`re thinking of buying this light, how can you not go for for this exclusive version?

p.s. I’m just a customer, no affiliation with illumination supply or Craig.

I’ve often wondered if the web based shipping calculators that some vendors use for calculating USPS shipping to Canada are wonky. For example I’m looking at 3 Picatinny rails from a US based seller on eBay, they are $10.00 each, but then the shipping to Canada is $20.00 (USPS Priority Mail International Padded Flat Rate Envelope). Those 3 rails from a Hong Kong seller are $8.00 each with shipping included. So the math works out to this: rails from HK: $24.00, same rails from USA $50.00 (but perhaps as much as $70.00 if customs adds more taxes and duties and collection fees). I’m guessing that if those rails were sent via USPS First Class it would be about $3.00, but many US sellers are understandably reluctant to use this method as there is no tracking or accountability.

Then to make it even worse for Canadians trying to buy from US, for some reason if those cheap goods come from China, they simply seem to sail straight through customs. But from the USA, customs sets them to the side for valuation (another few days of delay), then slap duty and taxes on them, and then the Post Office charges another $5.00 fee to collect the taxes.

In spite of ‘NAFTA’, it seems like Canada and the UK are both severely disadvantaged when purchasing items from US sellers and the reason seems to be purely political on our side, and it doesn’t seem like USPS is doing much to help the US sellers either.

TS,

The USPS almost doubled their shipping costs to international customers. As for ebay, people set whatever shipping costs they’d like – many do this to get a bit more profit.

Yay, USPS. Aw

With the recent price increases i think the USPS thought they were being very smart, domestic shipping would barely be impacted, and the increase would be borne by foreigners. They don’t seem to realize that people will just buy from elsewhere when they double the shipping cost

I almost fell off my chair when I read the International chart!

I’ve often wondered if the shipping is subsidized in China but Google searches tend to indicate not. But obviously the Gov’t there must have realized how important it is to business to make sure they have a competitive edge in the International marketplace.

I didn’t realize that we are even better off in Canada. For example I just shipped a 6lb package from Canada to USA (via ‘Expedited Parcel-USA’), I can track it, and the total was $18.42. Looks like the USPS Priority Mail rate for this would be $41.00.

I wonder if the recent USPS rate hikes were thought to be stimulating the economy.

I was involved in a rc racing boat club.if members ordered from china ,hong kong 99% of the time no matter what the value the item would arrive at address ,no import ,duty or vat to pay. However if sent by usps they would arrive by courier at the door with x amount of vat import duty to pay .You have to pay the courier before u receive your parcel.if sent by another method from usa 99% of the time they would b held at a local depot until dutys were paid then delivered to you.You could also collect if it was more convenient. Not forgetting there handling charge which i think is £11 now.

let there b rock (i mean light)

I do find it mildly amusing that the land of capitalism and market forces can’t complete with a state owned communist postal service on price. Mind you, Germanic efficiency also seems to be somewhat lacking from ‘Saxe-Coburg Mail’ here in the UK.

The mail order business has been the saviour of the UK postal service. Go to pick up a package at the weekend and it’s a sea of Amazon boxes and other on-line retailers behind the counter. I’ve not gotten the figures but there must be more post moving round the planet than ever before. Why prices have hiked so badly in the western markets over the last couple of years I just can’t understand.

Don’t be a chump, be a chimp!

Agreed it can be annoying shipping to Canada from the US. And the big increase in USPS costs has made it even worse. (In fairness to the USPS, FedEx and UPS costs have gone a mile high over the past couple of years, so you had to figure they’d get in on the action too.)

On the other hand, I ordered my EA4 XM-L2 from Illumination Supply Feb 14 and it arrived today Feb 19!

In a very well packaged proper box, not the abused bubble pack mailers we get so often get from China.

So I’ll continue to use Fasttech for batteries and budget lights, but for something really nice I’m going with Illumination Supply, my experience with them has been superb!

That’s really interesting about the Canadian shipping rates because there is a guy on LPF that sells LPM’s that charges $39.99 (Canadian) <1lb for shipping to the USA and says he can’t control the high cost of shipping because the rates are so high. Worst is he charges UK etc $69.99 (Canadian) same parcel………now we know that is BS.

Canada poste is all over the board, its cheaper for me to ship to the USA than it is to other Canadians.

I’m glad I’m not the only flashlight collector out there, I was beginning to think I was strange.

daveam, Did you recall how much you paid for shipping and if any duties were charged? Trying to gauge the total cost for the EA4 XM-L2 to Canada.
