CLOSED: Group buy: MT-G2 Order Thread (Price Updated!)

So I have been saying I wanted to do this for a long while now and give back to BLF. A MT-G2 group buy.

This is the emitter I want to purchase:
http://cutter.com.au/proddetail.php?prod=cut1381&cat=167

It is on a 20mm alum star. 6V. The datasheets are all in that link.

It currently $19 USD to purchase one from cutter - and if you are only purchasing one they are about a $14 shipping charge to the US. Conversion rates, handing fee from cutter and paypal will make it about $21 per emitter.

I will conduct the group buy similar to the sinkpads.

Each emitter will be wrapped in bubble wrap and put into a bubble envelope. I figure i can get them wrapped and shipped for $5 CONUS or Canada only. International users are probably better off ordering directly from cutter anyway.

Since this is my first time doing this I will set the cost at the $21 per emitter + $5 shipping (to be safe)

List will be continuously updated in the 2nd post. When and if we reach a decent amount I will collect paypal and place the order.

Any questions/comments, let me know!

SEE POST #27 for numbers breakdown.

Order List:

Paid 1 emitter

I’ll take one.
Thanks for doing this.

I’ll take 2 please

Will the price go down a little once you pass the $149(unknown currency) free shipping mark?

Unfortunately no. The posted prices on cutter’s website are in Australian dollars. Once you do the currency conversion and count in the cutter handing charge they post, the $23 is the price with the free shipping.

I probably wont do this unless i can get more than 10 emitters anyway.

Which color temp?

Why no international shipping?
A padded envelope is cheap even sent internationally, I always order from everywhere and never paid more than 5$…

This small envelope should be big enough:

A First-Class Mail® International Large Envelope costs 3.75$
http://ircalc.usps.com/MailServices.aspx?country=10137&m=2&p=0&o=3

So what about shipping internationally?

OK, put me down for 3.

I can't for the life of me find a page over there that details what they charge for what (handling fee, etc.).

Can I also add 1 each of these:

Bin is MTGBEZ-00-0000-0B00P050H 5000k Cool White. This is a 2 Step Macadams Part, the tightest colour range Cree make

A "large Envelope" will not work, because once you wrap the led, to protect it, it becomes a "package", due to the fact that it is no longer thinner than 1/4". US postal regulations are specific and what you are talking about "A padded envelope", is called a "package". Minimum of $9.95 USD to Germany for a "padded envelope". I know a lot of people in other countries do not understand the US International ins and outs, we don't even get it ourselves, but they are very specific and I have learned the hard way that they will refuse stuff that does not meet their requirements..

A large envelope is not a large envelope if:

  • The Large Envelope is too Rigid – does not bend easily
The Large Envelope is NOT Rectangular or Square
The Large Envelope contains items that cause more than 1/4 inch variation in thickness

Thanks O-L for the clarification.

And Werner, its nothing personal for international shipping. I would prefer to just keep this one easier since I have not done much international shipping and clearly its very convoluted.

Also, comfychair, I want to keep this emitters only for now. I am putting you down for 3 and if you are not in without the reflectors you posted just let me know and ill take you off.

Thanks everyone!

I have some laying here…for example I ordered 2 olight i3 with blister from 4sevens and they came here for 6.12$….?
5oz First classs international Parcel rate
.
I ordered XML2U3 and some copper and so on from illumination suppply, it came here for 3.25$
but sometimes some of you US guys will have 30$ for a small envelope….so I am confused.

They either get a different rate for business?, or they got around the system. I take my packages to the Post Office and if it does not meet their criteria, they won't let me ship it. That's why I always send my stuff as "package" instead of "envelope", because I have been refused by the Post Office more than once.

Maybe it works for someone else, but it never does for me.

I think USPS just raised their rates recently…

bump for the night visitors!

Put me in for 2 please, just let me know when and where to send pp when the time comes.

list updated.

I thought there would be more interest for this.

I’ll take one, please.
And Thanks.

The interest generated is actually what I expected. Since Cutter doesn’t seem to have much competition, they keep price plus shipping very high. Not a good thing for a Budget Light Forum. Unless more get involved, you may have to cancel the group buy. We’ll see.
