I am not sure if this is a good price for this charger, the i4 cost $20.62

What I see like a good deal here is that you can choice the car adapter for almost 2$ extra, in other sites cost 5$ plus shipping

There are some differences between the i2 and the i4.

charge rate 2 cells only charge rate 4 cells additional cell type
i2 500ma
i4 750ma 375ma Li-ion 10440

So the i4 will charge faster for 2 cells only.
I think what you are saying is that if you buy 2 pieces of the i2, it will cost you $29.40, so you might as well buy the i4 at about $9 less. This makes sense if you are OK with the charge time for 4 cells. I charge my AA Nimh cells at 1000ma with a Maha C9000.
And don’t forget the BLF discount on either one.

I have a 12v/24v cigarette lighter adapter cord for a revive-refresh battery charger, the tip also fits the Nightcore i4, is it OK to use that adapter?

Is there any chance of a problem?

not if the polarity and voltage is right .. The nitecore is a simple 12volt ..it doesn't say on the body whether it's center pos. or neg ... maybe in the paperwork ....

good question

center positive or not ??

To quote HKJ…

Boaz the revive says that it takes 12 volts dc at 500 mA, while the I4 says it takes 12 volts dc.

It is just a simple cord with the lighter adapter on one end and the tip on the other, but how do I check for whether the center is positive or not?

Usually this type of connector is center positive, otherwise it is too easy to come in contact with a conductive item.

Test it with your DMM. Plug the unit into a live 12v circuit. Put the positive lead on the center of the plug, and the negative lead on the outside of the plug. A positive reading (12v) will confirm center positive. A negative reading (–12v) suggests a negative center (unlikely). Be careful!

Edit: I think I got the question wrong. You’re asking if the i4 is center positive. That I can’t say for sure.

Thanks, the center post is positive.

Does the battery charger itself determine the proper mAs?

The question is what does the charger want ?? usually there is a small symbol on the side of a product with a

The charger itself will pull as many amps as it wants or needs ..limited by even the thickness of the wire on the cord ..

like you said a half amp .....500 ma..Wire thinkness is of no issue unless your cord is 900 feet long

The right one is the second one with the positive inside and negative outside.

I think he just said it's center posi and then picked the wrong illustration :P

center pos. Is the left one

My charger cord is the one on the left, positive is inside the hole.

I assume the i4 uses the same match up.

Shadowww answered about the cord polarity over at CPF, in post 93.

It agrees with what Wilson said.

Hi guys, I just test mine, center positive and outside negative, this is almost a standar in this kind of connectors… The size of the connector is 5.5mm and inside is like 2mm

Could somebody help me how to recognize fake i2 charger.

Five of those arrive in fact three different style & size of packing.

Two of those includes new Qr code so I hope those are orginal Nitecore products.
Have I to open all of those and take pictures of circuit board or what?
