The only way to turn it on and off is by twisting the tailcap. One-handed operation is very awkward, unless you have it directly (without further rings) on a keyring that you can twist it against. Again: It doesn’t have a real switch. The tailcap itself acts as a twisty.
If the tailcap is the twisty, probably you could hold it in such a way such that your thumb does the twisting. That’s probably what the protuding tailcap is for.
Haven’t got the light, just a suggestion, not sure if it works.
The one at CNQG is pictured with XP-E as well anyway.
The best thing about this seems to be the price. I think when attached to keys it should be easy enough to twist the head/body while holding the keys attached to the tailcap in your hand.
Maybe they put the attachment at the back to help stop it coming loose in your pocket, I’m not sure exactly how that would work though tbh.
I just took delivery on one of these from Fasttech and this thing is TINY! So far, it’s the smallest single AAA light I have, even smaller than my TANK007 E09 and that’s saying something.
I’m surprised by the build quality which is excellent especially for an $8.00 light! The beam is very nice with very good throw.
The only thing that puzzles me is the goofy split ring/lanyard attachment point. Sure, it provides good tail standing capabilities but it’s so convoluted I can’t figure out what to attach it to. It’s like an ugly wart! I may grind it off as there’s enough room in the rim of the tail to drill a tiny hole to attach a small split ring.
If any of you have any ideas how to use it, please let us know.
All in all it’s a neat and very tiny light to install a lithium or Eneloop AAA and hang on a keychain or somewhere when you need a decent amount of light for a short while.
Who knows Gj. It could be! I realize at least part of it’s use is to give some purchase when turning the light on from the tail, (and the tailcap is hard to turn to prevent accidental activations, which I like!), but come on, it’s too much of a good thing.
