RRT-01 Battery suggestions?

Hi All

Ok… So I accidentally pulled the trigger on a RRT-01…. I was planning on running 16340s on it (I have a couple of TF Flames…) but read that 18340s could be used on it as well…

Anyone have any suggestions as to which batteries would provide the best performance? Decent alternatives that won’t ‘break the bank’?

Thanks!

This is what im using daily, bought 2.

i saw those… thanks for the suggestion!

I had some efest IMR 18350’s that I used to justify buying the RRT-01, but they were flat-top, and didn’t work. Tried a dab of solder, which fell off rather too easily. Tried a 5mm magnet from Fasttech - didn’t work. So, bought two protected 18350 Trustfire Flames . guess what? I still use the 16340 batteries. Shame, because they don’t last too long.

I think I’ll try the efest raised top 18350 IMR’s - they should work, but getting just a few of them seems to be expensive when shipping is included.

I’ve ordered these to go in the RRT01 i’m ordering on payday

+1 on the AW IMR’s. They’re very nice.

I’m also using four UltraFire 18350, and they haven’t given me any problems… yet.

The Efest IMR’s didn’t fair well in HKJ’s tesing irrc.

Anyhow I’ve got some AW IMR ones that I have no complaint with at all.

Personally I think the thing to note is intended use. An IMR 18350 has the same mAh as an ICR 16340. But the IMR will hold it’s voltage a lot longer. If you tend to use low or firefly modes mostly I suspect you’ll see no gain with the IMR. Where they’ll show up is if you use HIGH most of the time on a well driven light. The IMR’s will make much higher voltage for a lot long, so the light will stay regulated for longer and thusly brighter for longer.

Trouble is that doingoutdoor won’t ship batteries to the UK. Last week I was playing with the RRT-01, and decided to try two of these magnets (one didn’t work last time I tried). It worked, but I didn’t really like the idea of risking a short, and tried one again - that worked too - for about 5 seconds. Ah well.

If you are in the UK just order from LedFireTorches, you get an 8% (iirc) discount with the code “CPF8”

Prices aren’t too bad either and you’ll get the items in a day or two.

I’ve also order some Efest batteries from here before:

aw imr 18350 cells are great to use in the rrt-01… its what i use. if you want to, you can turn it into an 18650 light buy purchasing an eye15 and using the battery tube (not cheap to do around $50 for an eye 15 last time i looked). the tube from the eye15 also turns the eye10 into an 18650 light.
