MCM Electronics - 20w LED Floodlight On Sale for $29.99 - $5 Shipping Again Thru Sun

I just got a flyer for MCM electronics (it's the "Summer 2013 Catalog Update") and on page 143 is a Pro-Elec 20w LED Floodlight for $29.99 and a 10w version for $24.99. Says "1500 Lumens" for the 20w version. Here is a link to the product page (you may see a higher price before the promo code is entered), but I can't find the flyer online. These are the versions on the small tilt-able stands with handle. Here is a product photo:

I'm sure there is a shipping charge. Sale is good through September 15th, and I wonder if they will do some sort of "$5 flat shipping fee" promo like I've seen in the past. At checkout, use a source code of "SC32AB". Hmm . . . as I try this myself I see a minimum shipping charge of $10.49 with a final total of $40.48 - not sure if it's so great now, unless it can be combined with a lower shipping promo like I mentioned.

UPDATE - I just received a $5 shipping promo code! Enter code "SH0500" at checkout. (You can enter multiple codes, just do it one at a time.)

Sale price alone seems reasonable. With the shipping it’s not that special. The light itself looks OK, basically like a typical work light.
I forget what the ones in local stores go for, but I’m sure it’s more then $30.

I've not seen these types locally myself. The ones I do occasionally find are those multi-LED versions. I would have hopes that these from MCM would have proper QC and be built to code (i.e. properly grounded).

I’ve seen a few at HD (Husky brand) and Canadian Tire. They were pricey IIRC. Some were dual head with a tripod, and a huge single emitter one.

Added a shipping promo code in the O.P. for $5 shipping on all orders of any amount. I believe this is a great deal! Think I'm gonna order two.

-Garry

Ok, I just bought two along with a Tenma 30w soldering iron for $2.99 and 3 replacement tips for $0.59ea. Still only $5 shipping fee. (Remember, prices don't show up reduced until you input the "source code".

-Garry

Is this a good deal?

Hmm . . . sounds good, & great reviews (I skimmed them). $49.99 after discount. Someone else would have to chime in on it. It's probably not a deal when you consider the additional shipping to Korea though.

-Garry

Thanks, weirdly international shipping is TBD.

The coupon code unfortunately doesn’t seem to work for me. :frowning:

Edit: Woot, the code “AFC909” seems to be 15% off!

It’s $54 now?

What's $54? The light? Did you add to cart and key in both "source code" coupons?

-Garry

Hmm, may pick it up and then replace the cheap COB with one of the new 95 CRI Cree CXA arrays.

Good deal.

Hey looks familiar~! I bought my 20W unit for $25 shipping included less the stand/bracket. The stand came off of a broken 500W flood I salvaged.

Hi,

Sorry, didn’t read to the bottom of the OP.

Jim

Yeah, what I think is a good deal is that 1) It includes a stand and 8 foot cord and 2) hopefully it's already properly grounded and such and not in need of opening it up and "fixing" it. You can get 20w LED floodlights all day long on Ebay. but they don't have stands, have short cords (no plug), and may require opening up and "fixing" (i.e. proper grounding). I'm thinking to maybe put these on current light tripod which has two 500w Halogens on it.

-Garry

Agreed.

I had to do just that. Though had fun messing around with it.

BTW - I did see your post on those lights you mounted on the tripod for woodworking. I was thinking right along the same lines when I started seeing the 20w, 30w, & 50w LED flood lights on Ebay.

Received my lights (and soldering iron) this morning. They were shipped (actually in UPS's hands) within a few hours of ordering!. Lights seem very nice, although you can instantly see some "Made in China" quality issues (nothing terrible). I haven't taken anything apart, nor plugged them in (I'm at work).

Hi,

I just got one of these, and I noticed that the light pivots (up and down) “loosely”, i.e., doesn’t stay in one position. Is this common? Also, is there a way to fix it so that it stays in position?

There usually is a thumb screw on the bottom that tightens to firm up the pivot. Usually holds for a while anyway.
