Uglywall Beamshotpalooza

Recieved my MCE and XR-E drop-ins today so, had a beam shot party. For those new to this weirdness, the cactus is 55 feet away, shutter speed is 1/4 second, aperture f2.8. If you happen to see an almost black cat in some of these, he one half of my feline collection, "Marx." The other half (Ted) was probably off getting into trouble somewhere.

First up is everybody's favorite, the Ultra Fire 3-mode XM-L from Manafont hosted in a Solarforce L2P.

Next is the MCE (3-mode/4.2 volt/OP reflector from Manafont) in a Solarforce L2. (Mr. Silver)

This is a Solarforce P7 drop-in, dropped into a Surefire 6P. Possibly a slight advantage because of the two CR123s powering this un-bored 6P.

Now the XR-E. (Q5/3-mode/3.7-4.2 volts/OP reflector from Manafont) in a Solarforce L2. (Mr. Black)

Also wanted to include some of my other combinations. This one is an Ultra Fire XP-G/R5/5-mode/4.2-18 volt/SMO (from Manafont) in an Ultra Fire WF-503B.

This is my beloved Solarforce L2i sporting the UF 3-mode XM-L but this time, it's powered by 3 AAA NiMH. I did a run-time test last night while watching Stargate: Universe - I got about 25 minutes of full brightness on high and terminated the test 5 minutes later. Very cool light, this.

Solarforce single mode XM-L in a Solarforce L2P.

And finally, the Palight C8 with its 5-mode XP-G/R5/SMO.

THe XRE holds it's own against the XML, just in a smaller hotspot.

The Palight XPG is awesome; look at the brightness of the hot spot on that thing! Just think if you could put an XML in a smooth reflector that was correctly made for it, in the Palight...

Good FoyShot! I'm still in love with classic mix L2P+XM-L drop-in..

I'm happy to not be a xml-a-holic .xpg is doing a fine job and xre's still kick butt ..lottsa light is cool in camera lens that's wide open ,made by cannon...My eye ,made by God shuts down and rejects more lumens than mud on your reflector .Nice photo's

I make no apologies. If logic prevailed I wouldn't be out in the back yard in the middle of the night playing with flashlights I don't need. There is a component to this hobby that is deliciously indulgent to my selfish need to be anxiously engaged in something stimulating. And it's harmless too, unlike a couple of my previous addictions.
