Getting PP Refund for Unreceived Lights

Two lights have not been received, thanks to some PP glitch that used my prior address instead of my current one. It has been nearly 45 days and I messaged both senders who responded right away. After I confirmed the lights are going back to the senders (so said the USPS rep), I asked for a refund from the sellers. But they are asking me to wait another week, which I would do if I knew I wasn’t going to risk losing my money.

So how does this work? Since two cases are open, does that mean I can now wait without fear of them being closed at the 45-day mark?

I haven't opened a PayPal dispute in a while... but I think this is how it goes:

You have 45 days from the date of sale to open a dispute.

Once you open a dispute, you have 20 days to escalate to claim.

Open a dispute before the 45 day mark. Once its open then the matter has to be resolved between you and the seller, you two have to work something out or PP becomes the judge and lays down the hammer. If you never received the packages and they have no proof you did then you will get your money back. You may have to wait until the items are returned to the seller before that happens though. Open the dispute and protect yourself.

OK. It automatically opened a case when I contacted them on “Item Not Received.” So, now, they need only wait to receive it to give my money back?
