I've seen both available here, and other than a slight size difference (701 seems shorter) I can't tell any difference. Anybody have good experiences with either/both?
I have both. The 701 is only slightly shorter, not nearly as bright and eats batteries like a vampire. The 703 wins hands down and its my farthest throwing & brightest 1 x AAA NIMH light - given the small reflector size. Of the dozen similar lights, it’s the 703 that lives on my keychain. Ive had it for about 1.5 years, it gets plenty of use and its never let me down. Hope that helps.

Been running around the street markets picking up and trying various lights, getting a feel for size, weight, etc, but I can't tell anything about runtime or brightness (the display batteries are usually half dead). Best I can do is a printout of the flashlight-wiki emitter page and come here and ask when I'm not sure.
omg I am jealous. You get to run around HK and actually see the lights before you buy :( lol. I would go broke.
I had the tk-703 on my keychain for over a year. it was an outstanding light!
I'm trying not to go broke! (no, it's not easy)
I think I'll take a few more pics and put up a thread in a day or two. The street stalls are kinda shocking.

srsly. That just made me way to jealous. Ppl already think I am crazy for my flashlight obsession. A trip to HK just to see the flashlight stores would have my friends/family over for interventions and I would be sent to attend special therapy sessions.
Well, you gotta understand. I have this Solarforce problem. Might be more of an obsession, to hear people around here describe it and I'm sure that's what it looks like. Probably because that's what it is. The idea that a person could simply walk into a store and walk out with an armload, no 3 week waiting/whatever - I'm just trying to wrap my mind around it.

Well, I've got another suitcase and 23kg luggage allowance for the return flight... but honestly, other than the crap lights, most things aren't that much cheaper than you'd get online.
The major problem is that these merchants are all side by side, and they compete pretty much only on price, so it's very hard to guess what emitter you're actually getting. I think I'm going to have to hit up some of the actual stores to see what I can find.
Mizjif: yeah, I probably couldn't get away with that either. On the upside, my girlfriend lives here, so I've got a great excuse... err I mean... I'm here to see her and this is just keeping me busy while she's at work. yeah.. that'll keep my head attached to my neck.
