Sneak Preview: XinTD X3 (XM-L2 | 3xAA / 1x26650 / 1x18650)

Sneak Preview: XinTD X3 (XM-L2 T3 6A1)

I got a nice package from DHL:

What would be inside? Hmm..

A letter, without recipient address! :)

And inside that.. A dumbbell?

..or is it a flashlight, after all?

Oh yes! It is! LOL XD, or should I say XinTD X3:

Here it is, finally! XinTD X3 from intl-outdoor.com. And it looks & feels great!

Anodized threads all around, with robust O-rings. Should be water tight, for sure.

Star is fastened directly to the head, with two screws:

..which works really nice for thermal transfer. The output sag during first 30s with 26650 was only 14lm(!!)

The 6A1 tint isn't too warm for me. It looks simply fabulous, as does the whole light. Build quality is top notch, not only like my XinTD C8, but even better!

And the moon mode is low enough! No complaints from me:

Modes (with 26650, my AAs are still charging)

TC current: 0.004A, 0.05A, 0.85A & 3.05A

Lumens: <0.5lm, 17lm, 256lm & 832lm (OTF, after 30s)

..and the PWM is totally unnoticable at 17kHz!

This must be the first flashlight I don't feel urge to mod instantly. Very pleased with it!

Please note that the tested WW version is lower bin than CW or NW (T3 vs. U2 or T6) => they will score even higher.

intl-outdoor.com lists WW as 835lm, which is pretty accurate => maybe the 1125lm for CW and 1050lm for NW are in the right ball park too.

Pros:
- Build quality & design
- Flawless anodizing overall
- Anodized square threads
- Thick O-rings everywhere, dual O-rings in bezel -> feels very waterproof
- Stainless steel bezel (good quality, feels heavy in hand)
- Emitter secured with two screws
- No pill, emitter fastened directly to the head -> good thermal characteristics
- Great driver
- Unnoticable PWM at 17kHz (silent too!)
- Nice moon mode
- Low enough low
- Med is good compromise between runtime and brightness
- High is bright at 3.05A, as it should
- Nice step down to low (10lm emergency light for hours! See AA runtime chart in a later post)
- ..and all this with working memory!
- Works also with AAs (pretty bright too, 658lm OTF after 30s, but still sagging)
- Good selection of tints (1A CW, 3C NW & 6A1 WW 80 CRI min)
- 6A1 WW is really nice (even for me, who hate yellow WW tints!)
- Good AA holder (cells can't go through)
- Tail stands perfectly

Cons:
- Some protected 26650/18650 cells won't fit (limit is about 67mm)
- Uni-directional knurling may be a bit slippery with greasy hands (longitudinal slots help though)
- Lens is very clear, but I can't notice any AR coating in it(?) Not true, my bad, see post #31
- Lanyard not included (but you can buy a nice one for only $1.99)
- 18650 sleeve not included (of course you can add one to your order here)
- some battery rattle (also 26650 would benefit from sleeve - tube inner diameter is about 31mm)

That's all for now, more pros & cons as soon as I find them.. ;)

Verdict: Highly recommended!

cant wait to have mine in hand!

Thanks for the review the! It looks like a great all rounder gift light

Any idea on the runtime at 600 lumens with the 3AA?

WOW! can't wait to get mine!

Now that's how to secure a MCPCB, not Nitecore style.

can you measure the boot? :D

That light looks great, _THE_! What is the reflector diameter?

johnny

This is soon a real review.. Just don't ask for beamshots yet.. ;)

About 15.5mm

Outer diameter 46.0mm, depth 40.0mm.

Inner diameter 43.0mm.

Bezel inner diameter 42.0mm.

No idea, yet. As I said, the output was sagging at 30s point, so full 600lm can't be kept for any longer. This was not thermal sag, but voltage sag of my Eneloop XX 2500mAh.

I'll publish both 26650 and AA runtime graphs in the real review. Please wait patiently. :)

I haven't measured the tailcap current draw with AAs, but calculated runtimes with 26650 are:

1h20min on high, 4h40min on med, 80h on low (over 3 days), 1000h on moon (over 41 days)

thanks. i dont see an issue of a 16mm boot in a 15.5mm hole. done 16mm in a 14mm before

Yo where the beamshots at?

Looks sweet. Would love to see some shots of the tint.

i really want one of these

will it fit unprotected 26650 ok? i have a mnke 4000mah imr that would go well in this light

Ok 'the', sooo convincing - ordering the 6C1, along with some of Hank's great deals on the XM-L2's on Noctigons, even though I literally have 26 bare Noctigons right now...

Some runtimes on a 18650 also please

Nice! This light is def. living up to the hype. Now I just have to convince myself that I don’t need another light.Really, I don’t.Although I do have two homeless unprotected 26650’s, and I am still upset about my defective SF S2200.Hmmmm….

I am also wondering if long 26650’s fit - the Keeppower 26700s?

In fact is more like 26710. If that existed.

Nite who sorry? I absolutely cannot wait to get mine now, its on the way, I expect it’ll turn up late next week or early week after, Its getting dark sooner here too, get in!
