Alternating between two home brews, fir tip ale and honey porter while we brew another honey porter and a kolsch.

Three Tanna leaves to give him life, nine to give him movement. But what if he eats the whole bag?

Tonight it’s Stone Levitation Ale. Also put a batch of welch’s wine in the fermenter earlier today hope it turns out ok.

At least 33 year old Port Ellen – they demolished the distillery in 1980. Probably around 50 years old.

Just don’t ask what the bottle cost – but I earn less than that in a quarter year.

There are Caol Islas as good which cost a bit less – but not much less.

… now my mouth is watering lol ive never had anything aged longer than 18 years myself

The old Islay whiskies aren’t for everyone. Imagine drinking Stockholm Tar and you’ll get the general impression.

And reckon on each sip costing $200. Ardbeg or very old Caol Islas are the closest that mass-market stuff gets.

But don’t try it till it is 30 years old. Which costs a lot. If you can’t take 3 year old Ardbeg – or Caol Isla (If you can find one that young – personally, I avoid it till it’s 10) or Bruichladdich (Which isn’t drinkable till it’s 20) or the other Islas. Stick to Speyside stuff. The MacAllan is the best unless it was matured in bourbon casks in which case don’t drink it. Really don’t. My patients’ cats leave better n their litter trays.

I enjoy Ardbeg very much when I can afford it Smile

Would you mind keeping the wrong flashlight?

this arvo made me realise I prefer a dark porter or stout better than anything else that the market can offer! I’m so going into home brew soon.

Would our Asian members offer any feedback/background on this interesting drink?

30 year old Aberlour.

The old Aberlours - as long as they got matured in sherry casks are among the best (As in they beat the very slightly younger MacAllans) - the bourbon casks (By Federal law bourbon has to be matured in new casks) come out of sick cats.

Also one of the best distillery tours going. Charlestown of Aberlour is about 120km from here. Across a few mountains.

The Coke is probably worse for your health than an alcoholic drink would be...  Personally, I drank my last soda/pop in 1995 or thereabouts..

I am currently extremely busy with work. Please do not expect a response from me quickly. I will be dropping in as time permits, but the amount of time I can dedicate to responding to topics and PMs is very limited.

+1 on the Aberlour. Just finished a bottle of single cask. Probably the smoothest whiskey I have ever had, and it was 64% (128 proof) alcohol!!!! (undiluted cask strength). Haven’t seen it in the LCBO since, but I will be on the lookout for it.

Water, milk, soda or beer (under 3.5%) I don’t like liquor, wine etc and I can’t find anything positive about drinking stuff like that.
