Test/Review of Nice Lithium AA

Nice Lithium AA

Official specifications:

  • Battery Capacity (Mfg Rated): 3000 mAh
  • Battery Chemistry: Lithium
  • Battery Feature: Primary (Disposable)
  • Battery Form Factor: AA
  • Battery Rated Voltage: 1.5 V
  • Manufacturer Brand: NICE

I believe these a Chinese lithium cells. Their performance is good at high loads.
Like other lithium cells the voltage is 1.8 to 1.9 volt when unloaded.

These batteries does not change much in capacity, even at 3A load.

Conclusion

This battery is much better than alkaline at high loads and will also work better in cold weather.
They cannot match the Energizer Ultimate lithium, except at 3A.

Appear to be good, thanks HKJ.

Thanks! Confirms the other test posted on these cells! I've been lumping a couple of these in with each of my FastTech orders in order build up some stock of them.

Thanks for doing this.

A lot of people will find this review interesting. I used to buy generic plain jacketed cells from eBay out of Hong Kong that were sold as OEM Primary Lithium Energizers and cost about a dollar each. I was dubious but bought a few and when they arrived weighed them, and then ran them in a few devices of varying current draw. Their weight was the same at 14.8g, and their capacity seemed to be the same, so ended up buying hundreds of them, and they performed like regular energizers in the field. Then more than a year ago, they disappeared. I tried Google to see why, thinking perhaps they moved their production plant to another location, etc., but never did find out why.

I have a couple of devices that perform better with the higher voltage primary lithium cells provide - such as a VHF Radio with double AA cell battery pack that needs the higher voltage to produce 5 watts, and a Spark SD52 headlamp that needs it to support Turbo mode. Plus avalanche transceivers that need cold weather ability. So while these may cost a little more than a buck, and they are not quite up to the Eveready’s performance, I’m sure lots of people will be happy to see an alternative souce of AA Lithium Primary cells like this available again.

NICE review!

I like this battery and will probably replace some AA eneloop and alkaline batteries with it, in my less used lights. This will reduce the risk of leaking alkaline and give me a pile of eneloop to use in my new lights.

:)

I see you have gotten yours from FT. I don't need to see the FT logo in order to recognize a FT package. LOL (confessions from a flashoholic)

I might pick up a pair. Would be nice to have them in a modded 2AA Maglite in my car (driver can handle up towards 4v).

.

I was thinking along the same lines, although I don't have a modded mini-mag yet. Oh well, there's my excuse to make one!

You could also look in the supplier field in my info box (With batteries I always specify where I get them).

Lithium is probably the best chemistry to use in cars.

Nice! I was hoping you’d test these. They seem like good batteries for a reasonable price. Thanks

Hmm I wasnt aware of these. Seem to be half decent cells, just havent looked at price on them I assume they are fair.

Thanks for the work HKJ! Very much appreciated by us all.

Nice review, I’ve been considering buying a few of these. Might use them in my 3AA to D parallel adaptors.

Are you going to test the AAA version at all?

Yes, but it will be some time before I publish it.

Hmm . . . I never noticed the AAA version. Sure enough, I see it now.

Awesome.

Awesome! Thnks

Been looking at AAA’s to use in cockroach lights for emergency, I understand that you didnt have time to do review for Nice AAA sized primaries :)?

I did test them at the same time, but never got around to publish them. If there still is some interest in them I can put the review up.
