BLF problem? - Pics not working on BLF from some sites?

Hi,

I’d been using Dropbox to host my pics that I link in posts here, using shortened links, but about 2 days ago, I noticed that the embedded pic links to images on Dropbox.com don’t work anymore, either with the shortened links or the full links.

For now, I’ve created a new account on Photobucket, but am not sure if the problem is Dropbox.com or BLF itself.

Anyone else using Dropbox.com, and if so, have you had problems linking pics from there in posts here on BLF?

I haven't used Dropbox, so I can't help you there.

I have used Photobucket for years, and I can not recommend Photobucket!

Check out my overview of Abload.de for a very nice image hosting site:

One of the reasons I really like Dropbox is that I use Android camera, and can upload images into a specific directory.

With Photobucket, it seems like everything goes into your Photobucket first, so it’s an extra step to move images to the right directory/album.

I signed up for Abload, and tried their app, but it’s really hard to use the app because everything is in German :(… Not sure if it’ll work for me?

EDIT: I was just checking, and it appears that Dropbox has bandwidth limits for accounts. In my case, a free account, it’s like 20GB per day, so maybe that’s it :(…

I think the only way to use Abload effectively is with a web browser like Chrome that automatically translates the website.

20GB per day! A free Photobucket account only gives you 10GB per month!

I have a Skydrive account, with 25GB, so I’m going to give that a try. So far, it seems ok, and I can create folders, etc.

Thanks,
Jim

Have you tried using other photo-service websites online? By the way have you contacted the DropBox admin for this?

Yes, I’ve “tested” with Photobucket (today) and Skydrive (today), and both work ok with links embedded in BLF posts. I haven’t contacted Dropbox, but I will, but am pretty sure that I’m bumping up against that bandwidth limit.

Yes. me. Yesterday linked a dropbox pic, didnot work. Had to use a pic googled from the internet…

Do you know if you hit that bandwidth limit, or is Dropbox having some problem? I just submitted a help request to them and will post what I hear back.

Thanks,
Jim

There is no way and I mean NO WAY I could actually have used up any of my bandwidth….
I might have used as little as 100MB bandwidth or even less at the moment. (uploading+sharing_

But I think the bandwidth includes anyone pulling up a BLF thread/page that’d have an embedded link to a Dropbox-hosted image, so it’s now your use of Dropbox, but anyone who looks at your pics, even via a BLF page.

I am aware of this but I barely have anything shared/cross linked etc. So I am positive I’m way under any limits.

There’s a Help link on Dropbox’s website, and you can submit a help request there. I did earlier, but maybe if you do also, they might take a look at the problem, if they’re not already doing that?

A bit later. Im not going to get time right now. I’ll also try using my public folder. Maybe that will work

All of the pics I embedded (that use to work here) are in my Public Dropbox folder already, so that may have the same problem, but try it and post what happens?

EDIT:
Using the insert image from the editor makes it fail to display the image.
Using the [img] code does not display the pic at all and you don’t even see a picture failing to load….

Trying my pictures folder.

TEST2 PHOTOS FOLDER

Should work. It’s my public folder. I’ll brb.
