new: Solarforce Z1 and Z2

just saw this at solarforcesales

New solarforce light.

Runs on CR 123

$17

some more info:

High (240 L or 320 L): 40 min or 35 min
Medium (115 L or 128 L): 80 min or 75 min
Low (35 L or 47 L): 6 hr or 4 hr
Moon (7 L or 10 L): 50 hr or 20 hr

Funny they call 7Lumens a Moon-Mode.. I think 7 lumens is just Low..

Looks nice, I would like to see a AA version (can’t see it happening though).

It looks well worth the money, I look forward to seeing reviews on it.

Looks good, reasonable price and 1.5v-4v so primary or rechargeable.

THey also have the Z2.. but not yet on the solarforce sales website

which is the same, but for AA..

Ah thats more like it (for me anyway).

If its around the same price as the Z1 I think I would buy one.

Me 2

On their Facebook page, they said that Z2 will be available two weeks after Z1.

Z1 color Gold on the way

no mode memory, starts on high and forward clicky.

fail

I’ll pass, shame, it’s close to a light I’ve been planning to build myself but its not it.

There are things to improve on it.
But clip, XP-G2, different colors, price … I think that make it interesting.
All my cr123a are black (is boring)

I’m not prepared to compromise now.

The basics are there I agree, but lack of mode memory is an issue for me in this form factor and I hate forward clickies with a passion, I’d just be better sticking to my planned build which would cost me about the same and be “right”.

No mode memory, starts on high and forward clicky - it's perfect! :)

lol no light will be right for everyone, for me its a fail, for many it will be a win and I don’t doubt it’ll be well made.

For me no memory and forward clicky is ok, but I prefer start always on Low :_(

Mode memory is great if you can remember which mode it was in when you turned it off, if you can't remember it might as well be a crappy next-mode driver. Much better to know for sure exactly what it's going to do every time you pick it up.

Forward clicky and no memory means you can pick it up, do a press-press-click and know it'll be in 'low'. Until technology advances to the point the driver can interface directly with the brain and we can control the lights remotely, that's about as good as it gets.

I think this looks better than the last few lights (except the big ones) they produced.

And the choice of different colors is definitely nice.

No mode memory, and start on High don't have my preference, but I would like to try it out anyway. (If the same price as the Z1)

it does look good, I really like the price too, I guess that’s why I’m disappointed its not “perfect”.

As comfychair proves though, what’s not “perfect” for one, is absolutely bang on the money for another.

wouldn’t life be boring if we were all the same?

Forward clicky is the best. That’s not a fail, it’s a win. Love that it starts on high. When I want light, I want light. I have yet to find a single use for moonlight mode on any light I own. If I wanted less light, I would just buy a less powerful light.

One other thing, people will say that it does not tail stand or can hardly tail stand. I like that they made the switch easier to press which is a good trade off to tail standing which nobody ever really uses but for some reason they are hung up about it. If you really need a light to tail stand, stick it in a cup. Problem solved yet you can still use the clicky.

Yeah, everyone pick on gords for not liking what we like :stuck_out_tongue:

Jk mate

I´d reeeeeeally order one (or more)BUT I´m sick of Solarforce´s color mismatching. Damnit. I want one.

edit: somebody on facebook asked if we can use 16340s and solarforce said “It can only use CR123A battery once off only”. So no 16340s?
