"Thing" to increase visibility while biking or walking

I never had seen this thing. I imagine is for biking or walking at night.

Uses a CR2032 and produces green light. But the question is... what is "flash and glow modes"?

EDIT: ok imagine is flash mode and constant on mode...

Just bought one of these for my friend's Catrike . Got a red one to mount at the top of the whip . Works real well .

And how it works? it has the 2 declared modes? it produces enough light?

It has the advertised 2 modes , constant and a medium slow blinky . My friend poked a hole in the switch end of the light and threaded it on the end of the whip . The pole doesn't seem to interfere with the light transmission . In blink mode , waving around 7 feet up in the air , this does produce enough light to be easily seen for 1/4 mile .

1/4 mile, interesting........ thanks!

Assuming you're in a dark environment . In the city , I don't know .

It's a lot better than a flag at night , especially since the stock flag isn't reflective. We are also going to apply some reflective tape to the whip itself .

I posted in CPF in the bike subforum some time ago about this . Some of the replies had some interesting mods .

I have to ask, what on earth is a "Catrike"?

I can't decide if it sounds more like a three-wheeled digger or a trike for cats :)

Nite ize make these in a couple of sizes and colours, it just anoys me they didn't go with at least a AAA battery instead...I really do hate button cells.

A Catrike is a 3 wheeled low recumbent . Two wheels up front , and a larger drive wheel in back . The seat is like an easy chair , it's very comfortable . The problem with low recumbents is visibility . They come stock with a fiberglass whip with a flag on it . I figured that a lightweight blinky would be good for nighttime . And it is .

All of the Niteize lights are based on the 2032 button cell probably to save weight and to be compact . How else are you gonna get 3 volts in such a small package ?

I have two different sizes of multicolored lighted frisbees , and I just bought a Backbone case for my EDC gear when I'm on my boat . The frisbees get a lot of love when I bring 'em out , everyone thinks they are amazing . The Backbone is nearly water tight and it's just the right size for my gear . I get my Niteize swag at Batteryjunction .

And in my experience , Niteize products are well made , well engineered ,and Budget .

Ahh I've seen people on that style of recumbent with their flags in the air. They look like an ideal combination of ergonomics and function, but I used to get freaked out enough when passed by giant trucks on a conventional bike.

A little bit of very cheap electronics would solve the 1.2/1.5 to 3v problem, the red ones wouldn't even need that as they tend to have lower Vf's

Me too . That's why I would never own a low recumbent .
