DX new arrivals: Olight O'Pen for $38.30

DX has now the Olight O'Pen for $38.30 in red, blue, and brown colors [That's the cheapest I have seen so far!]

The light itself is very nice. I paid about $57 (incl shipping) for my 4sevens-branded version and I still think it's worth it! BLF review here: https://budgetlightforum.com/t/-/17960

Quick! Before the MAP police!!!

still overpriced

Only the black model is hard anodize. I still want one in brown though.

Runtime 20 mins from 2 AAA is pretty sad.

I kind of was looking at getting a brown one but I doubt I would ever have a use for it as I don’t carry pens so it would just be an expensive novilty item.

Fasttech had the black one for $33 before the brown stuff hit the fan, MAP wise.

I remember! ;_; I was hoping they’d stock brown. How do you find yours now? Is it quite throwy?

I would keep it in my handbag, which means more rummaging when I need something.

Not throwy at all - quite floody, which, imho is more useful in a penlight. I’ve been comparing it to the Bronte RA03 (a little more throwy) and the Tank007 PA02 (much more throwy), but the O’Pen is much the best quality light.

Oh, if you do intend to keep it in a handbag, make sure you lock it out - mine came on in a trouser pocket. It was a nice warm feeling, but better if I’d locked it out. Same with the Bronte, but no chance of the PA02 coming on accidentally - it has a really stiff clicky.

BTW - is throwy a word? Is floody? Who cares?

Thanks, Woody. Maybe I can find a nice little slip case for it too.

P.S. I got a shock recently, left my Convoy S5 on in high (ceiling bounce) for over an hour. It was so hot!!

Now also as black (for $0.10 less ):

I like the black one (better than the brown), I might buy one in the future but I’m not happy with DX at the moment.

They send me broken car bulbs that I since found out are fake Philips, they are only offering 1/4 of the price as store credit.

Ill probably open a dispute over it.

I have one on the way through an Amazon seller. Not as good a price as from DX but I like the Amazon protection guarantee. Still a better price than the Four Sevens Pen Light though on their web site.

As for runtime, read the full review at CPF. 40 minutes using Eneloops while the AAA alkaline light curve looks like the face of a cliff from the very start. Alkalines just have too much internal resistance for what this draws. If you want to use non rechargeable batteries go with Energizer Ultimate Lithiums. Expensive but hard to beat in high current devices and this pen is the epitome of a high current device for AAA cells. I also have a higher power green laser pointer that I use the ultimate lithiums in with excellent performance.
