I’m finding the SST-40 to rock! Gained some 3,000 lumens putting 3 of em in my SupFire M6 over the XM-L2. Sweet, I can live with the color at this point, til they come out with better ones. Wink

That’s 5,000+ lumens bumped to 8,866 lumens. Big Smile The only thing I changed aside from emitters is that I re-flashed the MCU with TK’s ramping firmware.

I wonder what they can do in the Q8 or are the xpl’s already close to the sst-40? IDK.

SST-40 will put out more lumens than XP-L due to the lower vF.  It's like the 219C but in an XM-L2 package....low vF = lotsofamps. Smile

Will you be restocking SST-40’s?

The low mode should be lower.

I found it by searching, but it had nothing under the SST-40 section in the LED menu.

The low mode should be lower.

Any idea when you might have 30Q and Aspire cells?

30Q...in a week or so.  Aspire?  Who knows.  I placed another order right after we received the last one weeks ago...they seem to take a while to ship. My guess is another week or so.

That C8 host with the SST40 is a really nice light Richard, it really grows on you and I normally don’t like CW’s but this CW seems softer I think it doesn’t seem as hard on my eyes, neutral tints will be very nice in this emitter.
Has anyone tried the Nichia 319AT D440’s 5000K on a Mt. quad in the D4 yet.?
I’m wondering if it will all fit together under the Carclo without any modding or if anyone knows of some unforeseen situations with the D4 and this LED.

MTN Quad will fit in the D4 with no modifications---I have put them in several lights.  The 319AT fits under the Carclo optics.

I was browsing around the site last night and also noticed the SST-40 page. Look forward to seeing what bins/tints you can get your hands on. I really like the SST-40s I have from somewhere else.

Any chance of stocking the Luxeon V in the future? Maybe even get some DTP boards made for it? Djozz did a test on one using an XP board and the performance and tint look really good.

Any thoughts on the Luxeon V? Would like to see these become more available as they seem like a great alternative to XP-L2. Biggest drawback right now are DTP boards. XP boards can work, but are right on the edge, and won’t realize full heat dissipation.

I tried the 319 with it’s hexagonal die on Richards Quad board and in the D4, didn’t particularly like the beam profile or tint to be honest. Pulled em out and went with a 4th choice. (yes, I tried XP-G2, 219C, 319, and XP-E2 Green)

I am getting some Luxeon V samples.  May take a while before I commit to buying DTP boards.

Glad to hear you’re getting some samples anyhow! Even to get them reflowed onto XP boards reliably would be great for now, and would at least give an idea of the demand for them before committing to custom boards. I have considered trying to do some myself, but my reflow setup probably isn’t up to the task with how tight they looked in djozz’s pictures.

Just another opinion here, but I didn’t much care for 319a’s under Carclo optics either. They’re beautiful under the big Ledil SS optics though.

I am looking for the 4 SS Ledil in 24mm after seeing your comment, thank you, and I can’t seem to find a cute 4 SS Ledil under 35mm or so, do you know if they are even available in 24mm for the D4 or am I just wasting time.
Thanks however for that information Emarkd, I was thinking of trying the 314’s under the Carclo 623 and see if a wider spot enhances the emitters characteristics and tint better than what Dale referred to and being he has a photographers eye I’m inclined to believe it didn’t look good at all assuming he was using the stock Carclo 621 as well.
Frankly not even sure why I’m even wanting to change anything, it’s certainly not necessary as I think all the beam profiles and tints look great on all the D4’s I bought,
I think it’s just that BLFer thing, If it looks great and works great, then lets fix it..?

I like the look of the 219 in the D4, the XP-L HI or XP-L2 should do well with it too.

Running a 24mm Optic it’s either Carclo or Khatod when it comes to quads. The Khatod is taller, might now work well with the D4. It does have a nicer spot though.

Wasn’t impressed with 319 under Carclo either and mine was DD Fet build. Regulated may have been different result.
Kinda quit there with them and didn’t try a Ledil. Thanks for that.

Would it be possible to get the D4 UI V2 (e switch) flashed onto a Moonlight Special linear driver? I would love to have a linear driver with this UI in an e-switch light. I believe the moonlight special is very similar to a FET+7135 driver, just has extra 7135’s on the second channel instead of the FET? If so, I would pick up 4 of them.

Also I would love to get this UI in a SRK V2 FET+7135 driver for my Supfire M6 Smile

Supfire M6 - 3x 1st gen XML-2 on Noctigons, SRK V2 FET+1 driver w/ moppydrv
Cut down Mini Mag - 1st gen XML-2 on 16mm noctigon, brass pill, 15 degree optic, Nanjg 101-AK with 8 7135's, IMR 14650
Small Sun ZY-T08 - XPL Hi Noctigon, RMM Fet driver, added coper to pill.
Astrolux S2 - 3x XPL Hi 32mm Noctigon, Ledil Cute optic, RMM FET+1 driver w/ Bistro, copper head/pill from Kronos SS
Kronos X5 BLF limited edition- 4x Nichia 219C MTN Quad DTP, Carclo 10621 optic, BLF A6 driver, copper head/pill from Astrolux SC
Astrolux S41 - 3x XPL Hi Noctigon, Carclo 10507 optic, Dr Jones H17F driver, added copper to head/pill, lighted tailcap
Astrolux S41 - 4x Nichia 319A Manker DTP, Stock optic, BLF A6 driver, lighted tailcap
Solarstorm SC02 - Nichia 219C, Qlite 3.04A momentary driver w/ moppydrv
Convoy S6 cut down - 3x Nichia 219C Noctigon on short copper spacer, Carclo 10507 optic, Qlite 3.04A driver w/guppydrv
HaikeLite MT03 - stock at the moment, but will probably resistor mod it at least
Too many to list stock lights

Some members want to know if the gyrfalcon all-88 actually fit 8 of 26650.. yes it fits and charge all of them at 1 amp.. I don’t have to play with any setting, just insert the battery and it will automatically start charging at 1 amp.. thanks mtnelectronics for the great charger.

I see what you mean Dale about the Khatod might not work, it is slightly taller as you mentioned, like maybe double tall ha ha,
Also I don’t think Khatod makes a 24mm anymore, all I could find was only 25mm.
I think I’ll just try some UCL lenses, it seems that every light I’ve ever used those lenses in had some sort of increase in something or other, but with no box or means to measure anything coming OTF I’m not really sure what the improvement was but it was noticeable,
To my recollection the first light I ever tried one of those lenses in was a M24 Maxtoch and I could swear it increased the lumens but it might have just been my imagination, the beam did look noticeably better, so I’ll try a lens or two in these two new lights and see what happens.
I sure would really like to try and see if that 25mm Khatod would fit in the D4 might get increase in throw but really to me it looks sort of doubtful..

If you want a D4 with more throw, it’s probably best to get a D1 instead of messing with emitter domes and optics. It’s just not a throwy light.

Your absolutely right TK and really they throw much more than I’d have ever imagined, and do have 2 D1’s ordered, mostly just comments about nothing really, Thank you
