Surefire identification???

All I know is it is a Surefire, rechargeable, and it is an incandescent...

Can anyone tell me what model it is?

Might have more luck at CPF, haha.

I’m sure its worth a lot of money though.

I’m sure it cost a lot of money, not sure if its worth any money though :stuck_out_tongue:

yeah, im not active at CPF just CPFMP. I may try.

Trying to snag it up for a deal, play with it to see what the Surefire hub bub is all about, then maybe flip it or part it out. I know certain switches/heads/battery tubes can fetch a pretty penny if they are the right style/model...

It is probably a lego of all the cheapest Surefire parts lol

I think it would still be worth a lot simply because of SF’s no-hassle warranty. I’ve been reading great things about them at CPF.

Let me know if you want me to ask at CPF, it is a hassle to wait for your first three posts to be approved.

Yeah, if you dont mind. Would be nice to know what I am getting into.

The guy says it still works, has battery and charger and what looks like a plastic holster. Said it still works but could probably use a new bulb

Looks to be an older model z3. It might be worth a good amount of money, I think those older versions are collected by some. I think I’ve seen an older surefire 3p (basically a solarforce l2m) sell for a few hundred as a host.

I think you may be right. I am going to probably buy it. It has lots of use judging from the pic, so I am shooting low...

edit: looks to be a 9z. I think they must follow the same as the 3p, 6p. 9p... single, double, triple cells

Maybe a 9z ??

Here you go, hopefully members do confirm that it’s a Z3:

Not sure if the parts are available anymore, but if anything stops working, they’ll replace it without any questions.

think you could ask if it would be worth anything?

I tried logging in to see if I could comment...

pulsar, you do not have permission to access this page. This could be due to one of several reasons:

  1. Your user account may not have sufficient privileges to access this page. Are you trying to edit someone else's post, access administrative features or some other privileged system?
  2. If you are trying to post, the administrator may have disabled your account, or it may be awaiting activation.

Done.

Thanks! Kind of curios about this, its not the typical looking Surefire you usually see.

You are right about the warranty. I may hold on to it just because of that. Maybe the tail cap threads and battery tube threads will strip out

No problem, how much is the seller wanting for this?

Might get lucky with this.

I think the older model, what is pictured, is the 9Z. The newer generation’s are called Z3.

That's a manual shift valve from a 727 Torqueflite.

Hi,

If it's rechargeable then it's probably the 7Z. You should be able to confirm this by markings on the tailcap or by checking its length (should be about 6.9" long).

The 9Z (which was the predecessor to the Z3) also looks very similar but is slightly shorter at around 6.3")

The 7Z used the B65 Ni-Cad battery pack which is no longer produced. I believe there are some aftermarket versions available but I don't have any of that information on hand. The R60 incandescent lamp assemblies are almost impossible to find now but you can use the P60 lamp assembly used in other SureFire incandescent lights.

You could change it over to LED by using a P60 drop-in. The cavity at the head is somewhat smaller than found in SolarForce lights but any drop-in should still work if you remove (or shorten) the outer spring. The body will accept 17mm Li-ion batteries so you can use 2x17500 + a 15mm (I think) spacer.

Thanks for the good information, and welcome to BLF!

Looks like I may not have found my nest egg, but I still think it is well worth what I can get it for. Worst comes to worst, I get it and the threads are stripped and I need to send it back to Surefire to be fixed/replaced.

Do not think I will get into a Surefire for less.

is likely what it is if power source is rechargeable Ni Cad. The 7Z is the CombatLight version of the 6R. But according to your pic, it has a vintage Z44 Bezel Head with unique central knurling on the head of the 6Z unlike the front edge knurling reminiscent of the vintage 6P type.
