It is a very nice light. And getting it for under the $30 mark ought to help. I strongly recommend this one.
Just arrived. No charged cells around as the 6 new ones are in the balance charger and probably won't be ready till morning - it's 9pm here. Hence no numbers yet, just some quick pictures. There will be a review in due course. It seems nicely made, but the pics can speak for themselves.
Nice satin finish that seems very even. Since I received it 4 hours ago, I've no idea of durability.

DX says that it is a 4.2V maximum light. The body says otherwise. Till someone finds out the hard…
Quite a lot of beamshots including the J06
I had a nice break in a very peaceful place. One nice thing about being so far from the road is that you couldn't hear the traffic. Here's the assistant checking out the little remaining icy snow.

I took a few lights (126 of them to be precise)

Checked out some of the wildlife - red squirrels are seriously endangered here - someone imported American grey squirrels in the nineteenth century and they are displacing the reds. They carry squirrel-pox which is fatal to reds …
Next time I'm there to do beamshots, I hope to have a new assistant with me, I should hear this morning.

I find out from the breeder today. It seems there are several available, but it has to be a good-natured and quiet dog as it'll be working with some of my patients at times.
It'll be a 3-5 year old giant schnauzer bitch and I hope to go the 500km to collect her next weekend.
So be prepared for a lot of off-topic pictures. :)
Congrats Don! All the best to you as you make the choice.

That reflector looks fairly deep. I wonder how the throw is on teh Eastward vs the C8 smooth.

I don't have a C8, but it probably has a deeper and wider reflector - this light is relatively compact for a thrower.

I have both lights - Eastward YJ-J06 and the KD C8 CREE XML T6 1000 Lumen 3-Mode LED Flashlight (1*18650) SKU: S010020.
I did change the OP reflector to a smooth reflector and I gained more throw and did not appear to lose any spill (on the C8). For what it's worth, the C8 will throw farther than the J06. After accumulating several lights, I took the J06 back out one night and noticed that it has more flood/spill than most of my lights. It is definitely a flooder, not a thrower. I don't regret purchasing this light and seeing the light in person, I would order it again.

I probably don't get to choose that - she'll come with a name attached...
We'll need to see what I can get her to respond to.
Given that my name appears to be Hey You! this morning, who knows...
Hey You! is better than Yo!

You will!
But there was a little misunderstanding - she thought I wanted a miniature schnauzer rather than a giant schnauzer - there are several differences, among others about 40kg in weight.
