solar force Z2

Just got my solar force order. Besides my usual order of L2M’s and accessories, I also recieved a Z2 single AA pocket flashlight.
Man I love this light! More throw than I expected. But this ole girl really shines (no pun intended) when it comes to spill! It can really light up a whole room!
Any one else have one of these Z2’s?

One is on its way to me, along with a few other things. :stuck_out_tongue: Maybe it’s just me, but I can never go to their site and get just one thing, and only one thing. It always turns into a “I want that, and I need that one, and oh, I just have to get one of those and then, boy that would work well with such-and-such…

I’m really happy with my Z2

How bright is it compared to a sk68 clone?

Werner, I dont know. I do not have the light you mentioned.
Photo, I know ecactly what you mean. Even though stuff is very very reasonably priced there, seems like I always leave $100 behind when I goto solarforcesales.com.

I have read that this light wont run rechargable enloop or 16500 type batteries. Whats up with this?
My next question was going to be, what would be the best rechargable type battery for this light?

Kinda wondering about this myself.

If you meant the comment by Norm in the CPF thread, I'm pretty sure he meant the Z1 won't support 16340s because of the higher voltage. I'm pretty sure this was what his comment about primaries referred to. (3V but not 3.7-4.2)

Interesting though that the Z2 says 1.5V rather than the usual 0.9V - x.xV listed for most AA lights. I'm pretty certain no-one would be dumb enough to make a light that wouldn't run on Eneloops or 14500s. In the post here Trevi_lux has a photo of a Z2 next to an Eneloop.

Anyone have the Z2 running on NiMH?

Waiting for mine! I ordered one to see how I would like it because I like the idea of the tail switch vs. twisty. Seems like it would make a nice key chain light for the wife. we’ll see…

Yup. Mine accepted and runs with a Duracell AA/HR6/DC1500 NiMH/1,2/1800mAh.
I want every bit of battery this thing can take without burning it up!
So the search is on.

I’ve used it with Eneloops and Energizer Lithium. Both very good result.

You can see that with Eneloop 2400 performance is great (on the box say 55 minutes, but with eneloop is much better)

How about a beam shot? Looking for a 1AA thrower.

Only 19mm diameter. Orange peel. This may not be a great thrower

(but, the central spot is fairly well defined)
1 meter to white wall

The red color looks a bit pink on the solarforce pictures how is it in real world.

Hi Werner.

Hi,
I do not see pink. This photo is mine

and Extra pic

I considered this light, but the efficiency doesn’t seem great, it should last almost double what it does unless the lumens are higher then stated or runtime is longer

Hello Bort.
Runtime 1h. 50 minutes on high mode.
I do not think it’s bad efficiency. It’s a $ 17 flashlight, I think that efficiency is very good.

Until this thread i did not know that, the specs on their website says

Lumen (L) rating and runtime: High (120 L): 55 min
Medium (60 L): 120 min
Low (18 L): 8.5 hr
Moon (4 L): 50 hr

And i never found that chart on my google search a while back so you are correct the efficiency is good and this would be on my list next time i look for a single AA light, hopefully the price stays the same

Solarforce Specs S)
Perhaps alkaline specs … .I have written to them commenting the difference.

Just what would the runtimes be with a 2000 mAh or 2450mAh eneloop?
