Got a Sunwayman D20A with defects. Need advice.

I got a Sunwayman D20A a few days ago from IS during their Black November sale, and I’m a little concerned about some of the defects I’ve found. The XP-G2 dome has a little white haze or scuff mark on one quadrant of the dome, and the red XP-E emitter has a bit of silicone goop covering the emitter and dome. On top of that, I measured an initial standby current of 9.3mA which settled to a bit over 500uA after a few seconds, which is MUCH higher than the advertised >100uA or the 9.3uA measured by SelfBuilt on the other forum (keep in mind that this was measured on a crappy Cen Tech 35017).

Here’s where I’m torn. If this were a budget light, I’d be happy with the defects and shortcomings. But considering I shelled out sixty-something for this, I’m more than a little upset that the light left the factory in such a condition. At the same time, I live in Canada, and the shipping cost and time to return the light to the US is a little off-putting to me.

So what would you do: return the light, or suck it up and live with the defects?

From everything I’ve heard about IS, I’m sure if you contact them they will take care of it.

That would be my first thing.

I personally would just PM member CalvinIS and explain the problems.
If things don’t work out to your liking, I would contact sunwayman. From what I have read sunwayman is very good about taking care of problems, without hassle. I’m pretty sure IS will take care of you though if you give them enough time to respond, they may even chime in here.

PM inbound.
