Nameless XM-L2 HD2010 look alike but hold's three 18650's instead anybody have one?

Here’s the link—> http://www.lightmalls.com/highly-bright-1-cree-xm-l-3-modes-1770-lumens-led-flashlight-1-18650-battery I have two of them scheduled for delivery tomorrow they just looked to cool to me even though I had not seen a thing about them online.

If no one has one or has used one I’ll be sure to let you all know how they turn out.

Lightmalls has a good price. Thanks for posting.

Just got these light’s in today and I have to say I am disappointed.

They look like an over-sized HD 2010 and not even as bright as the FandyFire HD2010 I own.

After reading the link’s posted last night about this light I definantly find it true that this is not a light to buy and just use stock……it’s gonna take some work to make these right.

The center of the problem is the led is way to far down into the center of the refector and no matter what type of LED ring I try I can’t get the hot spot right and even if I did I don’t think it would do much to solve the output problem.

For those of you out there considering this light I’d pass on it and get a reputable HD2010……I personaly like the Fandyfire version because that is what I own and it does very well out of the box for me.

These light’s I’m no sure what I’m gonna do with guess I will play with them tonight some then let you all know more……it does have a very wide spill but has an ugly fat hotspot and when you do a wall flash you can see a doughnut hole in the center of the hot spot.

I just can’t believe a light with so much potential was just slapped together like these

but imagine all the fun while modding the light to its full potential
getting the focus right and resistor modding isn’t that hard and it is worth it

COURUI Mod ~ My Way

DX has one listed now as well.

!!

Dang it’s quite a bit larger than I thought.

with tube for double batteries

look like hd2010

Reflector has chip’s around the centering of the ring onto reflector.

These ring’s are just to large and were forced down before I received them.

On the good one the LED is not Glued to the Pill on the one with the reflector chiping the LED is glued to the pill.

These light’s realy tick me off and why I bought two realy show’s how bright I am.

No sense in buying one of these when there are awesome HD2010’s ready to go IMO.

Hope I can help someone not make same mistake as me.

But, when these are set up right they'll blow away the best HD2010. Basically the same overall size & reflector as Solarforce S1100 which is ~$60 more. If you think of the Courui as anything but a host for hot-rod parts, you'll be disappointed.

You are exactly correct.

I’m going to make something of them but one has reflector peeling’s all around the inside of the lens that came from the area where the ring is centered….not sure wether to leave them alone or keep trying to get them all out.

I asked Sunny at lightmalls.com if there is anything that can be done about the peeling’s.

Both light’s have inconstancies in beam pattern so the flakes do not appear to be making a difference but it’s annoying none the less.

Looks like that reflector got bent/deformed, like somebody put it together with a spacer that's too thick and then overtightened the bezel...

That’s the thing none of the bezel’s actualy fit into the holes so I am thinking that’s what happened to.

Is lightmalls.com good about taking care of issues like this that you know of?

To all of you I want to apologise for my negativity toward’s some of these product’s….Iv’e been thinking I know that Im a newbie that doesn’t realy know a whole lot about flashlight’s and modding them etc and I’m coming on here with product’s and talking bad about them when some of you could turn them into some of the best flashligt’s around.

Some of you of gone out of your way to teach me some of the thing’s I need to make these light’s better and I sure appreciate the extra helpI have received.

I took the light with the bent LED opening and added a smaller ring I had laying around and it made the hotspot a little better and definantly smaller and will give it a shot tonight.

But I just wanted to apologise for the bad talk about some of these light’s that I’m sure some of you professional’s could make into a dream light….I never meant to be Mr.Negative but no realize I have been. I sure appreciate the help and patience you all have had with me.

Nah. We need to discuss the good, the bad and the ugly. These forums are about criticizing for good and bad. That way we can formulate the big picture. We want to hear opinions and comment on flaws.

The only way to focus these lights is to shorten the stock centering ring (by gently sanding down the bottom of the stock one) or replacing it with a thinner one altogether, but I suggest sanding since the stock centering ring is actually really good. There’s just way too much of it.

The reflector peeling looks to me like you put a bit too much pressure on the base of the reflector when tightening the bezel. The shelf base is not particularly thick compared to some lights, and rather wide so it’s probably more delicate as a result. We actually want this to be fairly thin since it helps in getting the emitter deeper into the reflector but as a tradeoff it’s easier to bend if forced.

Once you add the thinner centering ring you’ll probably have to screw out emitter shelf some to make up the gap. It’s a balance of finding the right spacing so the bezel and reflector tightens up snug to the led without having to force anything.

I could tell you quite a few stories of HD2010s that totally sucked out of the box and also needed a bunch of work to get to a functioning state. I also bent the shelf on one of those in a similar way.

But posts like these is why I was keen to point out that this light needs work and isn’t much good stock, it’s a shame since it’s not far off being really good.

Tremendous package with really great potential and poops all over a HD2010 when tuned up. So overall I love it!
