New Sipik SK68 clone ?? SecurityIng Silver 7W 400LM Mini CREE LED Flashlight Torch

Hi and greetings Everyone,
I’m new to this forum, an LED flashlight newbie … this is really a great place and great info found here, thanks to all the members …

Does anyone have this mini flashlight? it’s another Ultrafire and Sipik SK68 clone !!

af.link

I’ve got my first single AA flashlight last week from the German eBay without much research about these types of lights (that was before finding this forum) … they listed the flashlight as CREE Q3 LED silver with “Smiling Shark” flashlight images…
I was disappointed - LOL  - for knowing about better LEDs reading this forum, but actually they’ve sent me the 1 mode Ultrafire XP-E Q5 … which is impressive mini flashlight indeed, as a non-flashaholic, this small CREE single AA flashlight is enough for me

so I’m thinking of buying this SecurityIng the Silver one too, and hopefully someone has it already, from what I’ve read, there are a lot of members here tried these Sipik or Ultrafire and so many other clones already !

I think these are the ‘official’ links for these flashlights >>

Silver:

Black:

according to flashlightwiki , from one of the the images of the black one, the LED looks like XR-E Q5, maybe ?!

Any reviews of this SecurityIng flashlight ??

I’ve read somewhere that the quality of silver SK68 clones are better than the black ones, anyone knows anything about this ?

Another Question, there is a small scratch on the lens (not a big deal but I prefer a clean lens  ) , do they sell these convex lenses independently? or should I buy a cheaper sk68 clone flashlight just for the lens ?

I have Duracell rechargeable 2450mAh, are these good enough for cree LED flashlights ? I will not buy the Enloops… well at least not now
and what alkaline batteries are the best for this flashlight ?

Thanks for All.

Crazy how many securityIng branded lights are popping up lately.

Your Duracell should be perfectly fine in it.

$9.25 is WAY overpriced! https://budgetlightforum.com/t/-/23234 I got mine for $3.60 a while back...found a bunch of links with none of $4.99 from the above post SK68 are the "bic lighters" of the Cree flashlight world...they are great "Beginner" flashlights and whatnot...but there are better budget rigs out there...

Any AA battery will work fine..even NiMH, I run mine with a 14500 Li Ion...ALOT brighter but gets warm fast...the AA mode...still good light, doesn't get hot and hey...beats using my cellphone flash as a flashlight

I thought the LED will get dimmer by time with the 14500, especially when AAs used after that !!

and the total runtime is only 30 - 35 minutes with 14500s ?!

Thats probally the only one i dont have in my collection of clones.

All clones I had sofar work fine and gave about the same output. I would not think that any colour would be better than any other colour.

I have not seen the sk68 lens for sale separately yet, they are glued in so just screw the lens-part off another clone would do the trick (and when you are at it, why not try a nice different colour :-) )

28mm lens

Will this fit

http://www.fasttech.com/products/1606/10002523/1404701-28mm-5-90-degrees-plano-convex-lens

The lens on the Sipik SK68 and clones are held in by the front screw cap

from memory the sk68 lens is 20 or 21mm, and if the linked lens is the same as the one intl-outdoor sells, those 28mm lenses have a actual lens diameter of 23mm, slightly too big.

In general, if you look at the smaller plastic aspheric lenses that are for sale at the various sites, you find there are the same few sizes and focal lengths that are sold everywhere (and those are usually not the ones I need)

And the lens does not fall out when the cap is unscrewed so it is glued (at least to some extend)

The truth is there is virtually no difference between any of the clones of the sipik sk68.Even the real sipik is not a great light .I told someone the other day that sipik doesn't make a good light so expecting a "real one to be of much higher quality is just dreaming ...Sipik its self is a clone .. The only possible differences in these lights would ever be a really poor out of spec run or a really bad version .even that doesn't appear very often . The light is showing up with multitudes of names and now colors.People are also putting different emitters and drivers in them but the results are rather unexciting since an xml will just produce more flood and lose all the throw and the 3 mode drivers used are pretty seriously lame. My opinion is if you are looking for a better version of this light ...It would be more productive to just buy a different light ..Or spend the money on batteries or charger .

The Duracell is fine .it's a regular rechargeable with higher capacity than the regular eneloops. The only downside to it is that it's not a low self discharge .meaning if you leave it charged in a drawer over any length of time you will probably find it dead when you goto use it. If you keep charging it and using it regularly it will be fine .

All alkalines suck and almost all alkalines are the same as far as output .until you pay much more for lithium (primaries) you won;t notice a difference in brands.

If you find Duracell AA rechargables that are 2000mah /made in japan and have a white plastic ring around the tip ...They are re-badged sanyo eneloops .commonly referred to as Duraloops

almost none of the specs on these lights matters some say q3 q5 some say 7w ,9w , 400lumen 800 lumen ..Consider they don't know their heads from their tails and are working off something someone else said

you want a xre emitter in these lights ...and there is humanly no way possible to tell a q3 from a q5 or any other bin. (Assume every seller is lying or a fool)

First thing to do with these lights is to tear them down and look and see if it has any heatsinkpaste under the star.

a good one vs a bad one ?..What to look for ?

weaknesses of these lights can be :

- cheap no access to a poorly made tail clicky . Some have no threads and have to be pushed out to repair ,a pain if not impossible to fix.

-A hollow pill/ no heatsink ability ..

- no modes or just poorly spaced modes and low pwm. Some(3) modes are better than none

-poor anodization/ scratches/sharp edges .

-lack of o-ring on the zoom /sometimes they use a wire instead and it gives a really odd scratchy feel to the zoom.

** End of the day it's a 5$ light and the differences between good or bad will be rather slight

Best and cheapest way to get output from any light is to give it the juice it desires .Buy good batteries (lithium-ion)<<<made in Japan.

Closely follow rule number ten of this forum

Have fun

:)

just want to add to Boaz's story: even with a press-fit clicky, hollow pill, no heatsinkpaste and a wire instead of o-ring, it usually still is a pretty good functioning light that won't disappoint.

Are there any good holsters for sk68 clones? what do you think about these:

Check this out, the seller claims them to be XP-E R2 and XP-G2 R5 LEDs …!!

Boaz, I think the zooming feature :open_mouth: is really great in all sk68 clones compared to the other single AA ‘highend’ flashlights, the flood is so good too…

probably my next buy will be one of these: XTAR WK41 , NiteCore MT1A , Klarus P1A

Thanks again.

400 lumens for that light maybe stretching it

The pictures of both looks like an XR-E to me, not XP-G2 for sure.

This holster probably would fit an SK68.

Yep, with a Li Ion battery it’s in linear regulator mode, in AA mode it’s running in the boost mode, so you get a tradeoff, more light shorter run time, or less light and quite a bit of longer run time. (this is why the high, low, strobe 3 mode is nice, but I like my 1 mode off/on version)

If they had a incremental 5 mode high, 75, 50, moonlight, strobe that would be interesting and more versatile

Just bought 10 of these (gifts and a few extra for myself) at $3.47 each. No name clones but look to be a good as the ones I already have. I’ve carried a Sipik SK68 on duty (fits great in the inner pocket of my cargo pocket in my duty TDU’s) for over a year. Gets banged around a bit but keeps shinning bright. I really like the ability to use either the 14500 or AA batteries.

Does anyone know a ballpark figure as to run time for each of these batteries in this torch? And if you have one of these, which battery do you us and why?

As a side question: it is my understanding that in a torch such as this a 14500 will give about 300 lumens (approx.) and a AA is around 80-100 lumens. Does that sound about right?

Thats close to the average outputs of these, though it will depend on the Emitter it has. They can have various emitters from XP-E to XR-E EZ900 or EZ1000 series. I found the EZ1000 Sipiks give the most light in flood mode, while the EZ900 had brighter throw.

wait till u find out about the ‘Convoy’ lights!

(search thru the drop down menu for a list of all models and tints)

welcome to BLF!

How did you remove the emitter assembly ? I noticed that some SK68s have two notches on top to unscrew it out, but some don’t have the notches at all.

There is a plastic ring press fit holding down the flat reflector plate…just gently pry that ring out and the reflector plate and plasic insulation gaskets should fall out, and the star is just laying in the pill (I usually dump the ring and reflector and epoxy the star into the pill [but that’s just me]

Yeah the notches are pretty much a must, use a diamond cutoff wheel and rotary tool and zing you a few “get it extra tight so it won’t unscrew the pill if you spin the zoom head” tightening notches, then hook with a small flat tip and really hork down on the pill.
