16340 3,7v or rcr123 3,0v in a olight s10

My olight s10 that I just recieved dont work with 16340 3,7v but works with a cr123. My dealer says it wont work with 16340 3,7v but Ive read in this forum that people drive there olight s10 with 16340 3,7v. Someone who knows?

S10 (both older XM-L and newer XM-L2 versions) work perfectly fine with 3.7V 16340.
It won’t work if you have flat-top battery though - it has mechanical reverse polarity protection and needs button-top battery to work.
Maybe that is the issue.

Ok strange I have ultrafire 16340 3,7 and it works fine with my trustfire mini01 but not with the s10.

Another suggestion - if these batteries are protected, they might be too long for the S10.
Tailcap should be screwed on fully for the light to work, and S10 is pretty picky for the battery length.

I’m using the Nitecore NL166 RCR123A 3.7V in mine and it works perfectly.

Ultrafire. That could be the problem. Even so, what's your multimeter say the voltage is when you put it into your S10?

Try taking a tail cap current measurement or take the tail cap off, leave the battery in and short (with something conductive) between battery negative and the un-anodized tube end of the light. If it lights up, the battery is to long not letting the tail cap screw all the way on. Or the button top could be too big I guess. I don’t own one so I’m not sure about the button size needed.

Yes I got it to work i tighten the tailcap with maximum force and voila it light up.

Mine has worked perfectly with NL166. Another great cell is AW 16340. Longer cell will give too much pressure to the thread. S10 is very difficult to screw in even when using the standard CR123A because of the compact design and strong resistant from the spring.

Yes I have now orderd a nitecore nll. What a fantastic little lamp this is but Ive got the 360lumen neutral white version but I ordered the 400lumen light.

Is the output higher with a 16340 battery compared to a 123a?
and do they make a ti or stainless steel version ?

I wish I ordered the neutral white version. Didn’t notice they have the NW version as well. Just received mine about a week ago (CW). Truly agree, great light for such a small package.

Maybe do an emitter swap.

The S10 is easy to mod and accepts a standard 16mm star. Time to replace that aluminum star with a copper Noctigon with your choice of neutral white XM-L2 emitter. Also works well with XPG2 and Nichia 219.

S10 is available in both brushed titanium and polished titanium.

Do you know where I can find the instruction to unscrew the steel bezel? I think I will do this in the near future.

I have the first generation S10. Fantastic little light and seems properly regulated on 16340s. I recall deliberately choosing this light over other models because the output on max wasn't overdriven or limited by cautions to use only in short bursts on rechargeables.

The main issue for me is that I only have Keepower brand 16340s and had to put a spacer ring in the tailcap to make it work. The O-ring is no longer fully covered so I have to make sure not to immerse it.

If possible, check your battery length first.
