monster brand lights

Just for a friend’s benefit can I have some Input on “MONSTER BRAND ” flashlights and whatever fac ts on them please?

These guys?

Overpriced. They’re selling budget lights at inflationary prices to those uninformed.

ugh… just slapped some word tactical on it and bump the price by $50-75 and hope somebody will buy it :stuck_out_tongue:

That’s them so you mean to say their 1200 lumen and 3300 lumen are overpriced? How about their output claims?

$66.00 bucks for a C8, I’ll pass. Monster lights monster price. :open_mouth:

You can get a Convoy light from Illumination Supply for much less and it'd be brighter than most of those lights.

Or you can get a modded Convoy light from Mtn Electronics (BLF member RMM) that still costs a lot less than those lights and puts out even more light, has better modes. His S3 with 5.8A puts out an incredible amount of light for less than $60. Only the $220 Monster light can beat it in output. The BTU Shocker would beat even that in output and throw for about $100 less. Even without mods it'd destroy the best Monster light. Get the XM-L2's and put them on Noctigons and the comparison would be even broader. Or get a BTU Shocker from V54 for about $200 with all the high output mods and it'll put out around 4500 lumens with probably have 3 times the throw.

Put output aside, and I'm troubled by how Monster tries to insinuate that his lights don't come from China. At least he offers a 1 year warranty.

Price is overinflated same with the lumen claims. The only difference between these and the China stuff is that they actually ship from the US. But for a similar price there are much better quality lights from reputable brands like Solarforce, Fenix, Olight, Zebralight among others from dealers that ship from the US too. You’ll get quality machined flashlights with good electronics and proper waterproofing without gross overinflated ratings.

They're in the ballpark if the tailcap readings are correct.

Does this look familiar, looks like a c8 to me

wowing really didn’t think they were accurate so they are close to output of their claims? To all other members who ccontributed to this thread thank you for your input.

Biiiiiiiiiiiiig if.

The CR123 C8 that Gitira6 linked is interesting as I have only seen AAA and 18650 versions of the C8 and I would love to have just about every battery type with a C8 form factor, but a reasonable price would be $8-10, perhaps $20 if it was the very last battery type C8 left to collect. :)

I'm actually really surprised that someone with 600+ posts on BLF doesn't recognise cheap lights..

Oh and this:

Quote:

So we went to the manufacturer of the finest li-ion cells and commissioned them to design and produce the best quality, highest performing 18650 batteries that we could make. That is how MF Tactical's Monster Flashlight Batteries got started, and now we finally have batteries good enough to be called Monster Flashlight Batteries.

uhh I was asking for the benefit of a friend and I was trying to provide him some one else’s opinion he believes they are US made and is it openly has its claimed lumen out put openly etched, on it that by some law it has to produce what it is advertised at a d I am trying to talk him away but he believes my opinion based and incorrect I am only trying to get him away from spending money on them and hopefully he will listen to others opinion if not mine.
EDIT:in fact Johnny Mac talked me away from MONSTER LIGHTS along with several other members here which I greatly appreciate.

Indeed they are just rebranding all those Ultrafire and Trustfire flashlights and sell them with crazily high price.

But I cannot identify what is the original version of this “”Pro Tango”“:http://shop.monsterflashlight.com/MF-Tactical-Pro-Tango-U2-EX-LED-Tactical-Flashlight-5-Mode-PRO-TANGO-U2-EX.htm and ”“Powerstar”“:http://shop.monsterflashlight.com/MF-Tactical-PowerStar-Cree-3xU2-3300-Lumens-Max-5-Mode-PowerStar.htm ? I can’t think of any budget Chinese light with selector ring and side switch like that.

I can’t look at their descriptions anymore. All the bold and underlined text is giving me a headache.

4-10x the price you can get elsewhere in general on all those lights, a couple somewhat “different” lights, but you could get comparable cheaper again. And that’s IF the specs are correct, which…is always doubtful. I’ve never heard of any requirements for the lumens written on the light to be accurate to be sold in the US…lots would be “breaking the law” if so.

look at the Trust fire trj18 it says 8,000 lumens !

They justify themselves as other compagny overprice more than them…
“For example, take a look at the 167 max lumen Coast P7 flashlight, and you will find a similarly designed light that has half the brightness of the R5 and sells at Sears for $125.00!!”
Only a WF-501B that is not even XM-L

Ok, was just a little surprised!

Pretty bad and if you think about it, I honestly didn’t know there were supposed h great budget lights for such great prices, I myself was a die hard Stream Light fan until I found this forum .
