I am a big fan of my Olight i3s (aaa) twisty so have been waiting impatiently for Olight to upgrade the i2 to the i2s. They emailed me the other day to say they have no plans to upgrade the i2. :weary: What a bummer!!!
I bought a Thrunite T10 awhile back to tide me over until Olight made the i2s but have been disappointed in it. The T10 works Ok but the on/off just seems crisper and predictable in the Olight. I hope Olight changes their mind.
And to make matters worseâŠwhile typing this my AA battery in the T10 has sunk so low i canât get it out. The top of the batter is below the rim of the light. It is a tight fit and wonât slide out. How can I get it out? :Sp
The I3S is a great light, but they seem susceptible to the âstuck on mediumâ problem when itâs cold, which is how it fell out of my EDC rotation. I would have to hold it in my hand for a while to warm up and sometimes I just needed it for a second or two, so it was taking longer to warm up than I needed it for in the first place.
Some people complain about the tint, but itâs a side effect of the very efficient circuit. The efficiency coupled with the hidden strobe I think makes it ideal for an emergency kit, which is where mine lives. Day to day for EDC, Iâd rather have good tint. But in an emergency or out in the woods, I want the most run time I can get.
Even if they just shoved the new driverâ warts and allâ into an existing I2, it would still be a winner.
This sucks. Think the i2s would have been my perfect light. Iâm practically stuck without an edc because my i2 broke after dropping it and I only want to spend money on an i2s which doesnât exist.
The L3 would probably be the closest thing. I wish the I2eos had moonlight. I keep coming back to the I2 as my EDC. So small, so simple, so bright. I can clip it âintoâ the change pocket of my jeans.
I had one. Looked great on paper but I was pretty disappointed with it actually. The short head made it harder/uncomfortable to twist. The contact area on the head seemed finicky and not very well thought out which included foam for some reason. Most importantly to me, it lost modes with 14500s. I believe it also quit working after awhile.
Everyone else seemed to like it though. Maybe Iâm just too picky.
has anyone here tried taking apart the i2 and replace the led?
like every one here, i love the i2, i have been EDCing it for 2 yrs. i think the only thing that can make it better is to make it neutral white.
