Very nice review! Like many good high powered throwers, I noticed that there's a faint donut hole in the beam of the 980l, but certainly worth the sheer amount of light it delivers.
thanks guys! yes the 980 is sure worth it..reflector makes it a great thrower but yes it has the slight doughnut as all the xpe, xpg, xml's have with the smooth reflectors..I guess it's a trade off for the amount of light we receive..
Very nice pounder, thanks! The 980L looks a bit brighter, but I personally prefer the P60 dropin because it is floodier, which is usually more useful to me.
I recently bought more knives than I would like to admit. After showing just one of my smaller favorites to my GF, she raised her eyebrows and asked what I would need with such a thing. Thinking quickly, I told her that it was a gift for someone else. Now I need to hide my entire knife collection from her when she's around... which makes it so much more difficult to get them all out to play with and ogle over!!
yeah the 980l's reflector sure makes it look a lot brighter..but both are driven hard (my kd is at 3.2 amps at 4.2v 980l at 4.6a at 4.2v) so really they are very similar in output..I love my p60 xmls because they just light everything up..but the 980l is cool also because you get this tight throw beam that cooks whatever it's aimed at lol..more excuses to buy different lights..
With all the XML's in my collection, I didnt want to buy any more. But now after watching the 980l vid a few more times, I might need to get one. When does it all stop??
