Copper Pill for SRK and Securityling

As some of you know, I did a contest for a free machined part. One of the winners was 18sixfifty. He requested a copper pill for a Sky Ray King. He sent me the head from one with the thin aluminum pill which is skinny to say the least. I ordered copper, but its not here yet so I made a prototype from aluminum.

Bottom: Screw hole is recessed for driver clearance. Chamfer on edge is for switch wire clearance. I underestimated how much clearance needed, so the chamfer will be greater on subsequent pieces.

If I would own a SRK, and if I won the contest to have a pill made for it, I would go for this aluminium one over a heavy copper one! Great work already!

Keep on making them. Will they fit every clone ? How much will they cost ? Maybe we should send you our old pills first for a proper match. We won’t need them anymore , anyway . I will take 3 to start with

It's yours for the cost of shipping. You' may need to do a little filing for switch wire clearance. I'll also leave it to you too drill the wire hole where you want it.

My lathe is a Precision Matthews 1127. It's a large mini lathe.

The ally one looks orsm to me as well buck. Did you find a cheaper supplier of copper?

That should make a huge difference in output and runtimes, even in the aluminum version.

And I have to agree, “Orsm” work ! :wink:

I bought the expensive stuff. I tried eBay a while ago and was disappointed. Lots of dents and dings.

I'll put a FS thread up after I get a few made. I don't know if they fit all clones. These have 1mm pitch threads. They are probably all the same, but it would be smart to check. Price will probably be $30.00 plus shipping.

That is very nice of you, appreciate it a lot, but I have no King and am not planning to get one soon. There must be someone out there who is more keen to have it than me ;-)

Even posting the OD would be a big help in letting us know if it would .
The C8, C12 and HD2010 OD seem to be all over the place and I assume this would be the same.

Your threaded section is a lot taller than the original. Won’t this raise the emitters and make it impossible to install the reflector and lens?

I have a 4 LED Kung version. It has the same 3mm thick, screw-in emitter shelf and it has to be screwed all the way down to leave enough clearance for the reflector. Maybe the King is different.

Very nice! Unfortunately my SRK is a very cheap version, the pill has no threads, the reflector and thin aluminum emitter base only rests on a ledge rather than screwing in

Nice piece! I love the concept. On the Securitying I think there may be a problem fitting the reflector, even with the stock shelf threaded all the way in (visually identical to the one you started with) there is no extra room for the reflector so any additional thickness there will cause fitment issues.
