Best way to attach a key chain light

I’ve gotten a few key chain lights, and they all work well enough, but my issue is with the split rings and/or chains. I’ve recently gotten a mechanic’s cable ring, but I still need to have a split ring on the light for the wire to connect to. Anyone have any alternative suggestions?

I use nite-ize s-biners on my lights and keys. Lights get a small split ring, a #0 s-biner, and some sort of lanyard or fob. For my keys I use a #2 s-biner with two #0 s-biners so I can easily take off a single key or swiss army knife or flash drive. I made the mistake of not getting the locking #2, but a small piece of heat shrink tubing solved that quite nicely.

I don’t think there is any other way than a small split ring on the flashlight. But after that you can attach to the keyring proper directly or using for instance a wire keyring, yet another split ring or a small carabiner or something similar. I prefer to attach directly. But I think it depends on how much stuff you have on the keyring. With less stuff it works fine to attach directly.

I have been using unneeded o-rings, doubled up for security, to add flexibility and elasticity.
I lost my best keychain light when I attached it with only one hook that came on a budget flashlight.

I’ve found these to be a comfortable option, it’s the oval or elongated split ring that does it for me, it allows whatever is hung from it to lie flatter than a circular one. A lanyard is my favourite way to carry but you still need a ring or clip to attach one unless the lanyard is made from this or micro paracord.

Maybe use 2 split rings instead of one.
With a lobster claw.

Thin nylon cord / micro paracord.

I must admit I do not like split rings on flashlights. If the hole is small enough, thin nylon cord could be used, or the lanyard attachments designed for cellphones. See H5 and MS for examples:

I use small stainless steel split rings that normally used for attaching treble hooks to fishing lures . They are available in several sizes and they are very strong .

Learn how to open and close jump rings! You can get some pretty thick ones out of ti or stainless that will never loosen up on ya. Looks way cleaner too.
