Comments ideas anybody?

My SST-90 driven hard is pulling 15A from the cells. 9A is rather more sensible.

I really want to see an SSR-360 driven hard but it'd be a bit tough on any sensibly sized power supply - and it is a quad-die. 4 SST-90 dies on one board. The heatsink would probably have to weigh as much as I do. And 40A capable batteries tend to either be too heavy to carry or have runtimes measured in seconds.

I had no idea, it's 26mm so how big is the host and what do you use for batteries?

Mags usually - with the die mounted on a pound of pure copper. Power - I use 4 high-amp Tenergy NiMH Cs in a 3D. 20 minutes at 1500ish lumens.

If you want long runtime on these you need active cooling and gigantic LiPo packs.

OK cool this makes sense now I thought they were all direct drive maybe I can finally do something with one of the many maglights I have kicking around now thanks Don.

Could you use one of these and a laptop power supply to run 3 or 4 XML in series?

I was actually trying to stuff 3 18650s with 3 NANJG 105 drivers and 3 XMLs into a maglite with 3 switches for a 9 mode light but this driver gives me a bunch of new options.

Yes, but getting the right voltage (for just the right current) is tricky.
