Oshpark Projects

Put your Oshpark driver projects in this thread and I will organize them here in the op.

I would like to put all of the relevant Oshpark projects here as it can take some doing to locate them otherwise but will refrain from snatching them without the approval of their creators. Posting a link here will be considered as tacit approval and I will endeavor to keep this op updated.

This thread is for the listing of open sourced DIY projects that are listed on Oshpark not for pirating existing work. I’ll do my best to prevent that sort of abuse but will need your cooperation, thanks.

I’ll include stencil info where available.

Stencils:

Triple Cree XP for 20mm
Noctogon boards by Helios.

Cree XM and XP solder paste stencil by Helios.

3 x XP Cree(+1) 32 mm Noctogon by Helios.

Cree solder paste stencil for MTG, XRE, XML, XPG/Nichia by Texaspyro along with

Directions for ordering from Oshstencils.com. These instructions can be used to acquire a stencil for any of the projects listed below. Not the case at this time but hopefully it will be soon.

How to use a solder paste stencil

How to apply solder paste without a stencil

Mtnelectronics has some of these as boards or mod kits on his PCB’s – Mod Kits page. And will soon have more. if you buy them along with other items you will end up ahead of the Oshpark prices.

The BLFTiny10DD, BLFTiny12DD, and BLF15DD all use the same irlm2502 FET for it’s small size but otherwise are similar to the larger DD drivers which use the vishay 70N 02 FET. The 10DD AND 12DD are too small to have a center positive spring pad and require a separate contact plate.

The following larger FET boards were developed using the Vishay 70N02 FET which is apparently available but no longer in production. The “similar single FET” has been tested and now works with the new location for the input capacitor.

Maybe?

Hey, there's a 15mm driver too, very interesting, what's the story?

What I think that I see is no minus-ring on the battery-side (same as the 17mm and 20mm version), and no space on the board for the FET (that makes sense because it would never fit).

Different FET on the 15mm board. I need to update the descriptions a bit better. I rushed putting them up this morning.

Lack of GND ring on the reverse sides is a cock up. Will be corrected later as well.

Also diodes are probably not BAT54’s… those are in a 3-pin package. I usually use BAT54’s since a) I have a few thousand of them b) if you buy the right version, you don’t put them in backwards c) they are easier to hand solder than some of those tiny buggers. In a pinch, you can usually slip a 2 pin diode onto the BAT54 footprint…

Hello Mattaus!

congratulations for your PCB!

What do you use to draw them?

I'm downloading Kicad, to try to play a little!

What do you advise me to start?

thank you!

I see, I looked up that little FET (0.37 euro at a local website, I bet it can be had cheaper), it has an internal resistance of 0.045 ohm, that would give a voltage drop of 0.1V at 2A (if I remember Ohm's law well Wink ).

I’ll put them up if it’s ok with TiVo. Don’t want anyone left out but also don’t want to step on any toes.

Sorry Matt, I was rushing a bit this morning myself and didn’t look them over before copying the links from Oshpark. I’ll mark them in the op as not ready for prime time until they are.

The diodes on the FET boards are the stock off the Nanjg boards, I had to special order the ones you have on your 20mm I built TexasPyro…but it worked like a charm though
(DIY’ers can’t be choosers Wink )

It was my fault the 17mm board got pushed…we hadn’t reviewed it…my apologies to you Mattaus. I already ordered 3x of em…so that is my penance for rushing you.

So that last SRK board with the FET looks rather awesome.  I just can't keep up with all that is going on in the world of drivers.  I'll just wait until RMM stocks them Smile

Darn, I think I ordered before you changed.  Do you know if I have to request a cancellation from OSH Park?  Hoping they know to use your latest version.

EDIT:  I created Support Tickets asking them to substitute the changed designs for my orders.  If that doesn't work, I imagine I might be able to rig a ground connection on the boards.

Which ones did you order? You might be able to add a couple pieces of wire near the edge to act as a ground ring.

All 3.  The 15, 17, and 20.  I created support tickets for them.  If that doesn't work your wire idea will probably make them functional.  Thanks for the suggestion.

I’ve sent TiVo a pm with an invitation as he is offline now and this thread may be well down the pages before he comes back. Any other Oshpark flashlight projects that people can think of should get mentioned as well.

The BAT54WS is in SOD-323 package. The BAT54/A/C/S are in SOT23 package.

I would definitely hold off with the FET based design. It's not working well with more than one FET (accommodates up to 4), and he's still working on a solution. The fix will probably be a design change.
