New to me Jetbeam PA 40

Well, I got what I think (hope) may be good “Budget Light” Jetbeam PA 40 from eBay. It’s coming by slow post from Canada. The price was right, even with usurious Canadian Postage, plus the guy had good feedback, and the light was described as “nearly new”, backed up by photos, soooo…I wait. Hopefully, it will not be a case of another eBay sharpie and/or the Emptor not Caveating enough. But, not a large loss even if so. Actually, I’m sort of excited.

Good luck! I’ve been wanting a PA40, & only jumped on the group buy for the Starry Light SA-22 because it seemed like a good value on a clone of the Jetbeam. I like the looks of the Jetbeam better, and it sounds like it has better heatsinking than the Starry… perhaps I’ll have to go spelunking on eBay too…

Congrats on the purchace.

After owning the PA40W for a few years now, perhaps over 100 or more lights have passed through my hands and the PA40 is still my favorite.

I recently ordered the PA40’s step brother the Terralux Colorado. Got plenty of Duraloop batteries for it too

Never did buy that model but if it’s anything like the EA4 or D40A then it should be awesome. It’s just a great form factor.

 Well, the PA 40 arrived this morning. I (With dignity and restraint, of course!) opened the box, scattering the packing material all over the room. Then, as dark was at least 8 hours away, and not wanting to wait, I put some batteries in, and headed down cellar.
WOW! NICE LIGHT! The modes have a learning curve, but not bad, and the brightness levels are great!

First impressions:

Well-made.

It is not a small light…’way bigger than my UK 4AA light I have had for years. Not as large as a 2D Mag, and comfortably smaller than my Fulton GI issue angle head torch, or the car’s 2D glove box light. Not strictly a pocket light, especially if your jeans are tight, but not a major problem, IMO. It would fit in a reasonably small purse. You could lose it in one of my wife’s compact car carriers, tho!

The oval body form is a goodness, and fit my larger hands very well.

It doesn’t tail-stand, which is a feature that is minimally useful anyway, again IMO.

NO BLINKIES! YAY! 8)

It actually does tailstand….creatively. While looking up the PA40 after I ordered the Terralux version, I found a picture where someone placed the lanyard under the light and it tailstands

Who’d a thunk it? A neat, field-expedient solution! 8) Thanks

I plan to order some of the Fenix E40 head accessories since the review I read said the heads are the same size.

Not tailstanding is just a stupid design flaw on these lights,

Fenix had the same issue ,other than that they are well made lights

I can confirm tail standing “with” lanyard  However the Terralux version has a different lanyard, same material but has some piece of plastic that looks like it’s meant to take up slack when using it on your wrist…so I have it standing on that piece of plastic instead of the cordage itself.
