Woah! That is a heck of a good deal. Usually AAs are about 2 bucks each, and the Ds are like 8.

2000mAh AA’s, 8000mAh D’s…hmm, that’s coincidental  And seemingly a good price for rechargeable D’s.

The seller is not Newegg. The seller is Propel Direct. Are they a good vendor? They only have three reviews, and they're all new. The only other place I see them is on Sears.com where they are also new, and only have one review. I'm not happy to see them on Sears.com because I had a bad experience with a credit card thief selling products there as a third party using stolen credit cards. I got my product, but the company that fulfilled my order has blacklisted my address for being linked to fraudulent credit card charges. I only knew because the product was drop shipped from a different vendor. So it looked like this.

Shipped to: Me

Shipped from: Vendor that's getting ripped off

Seller: Credit card thief

Buyer: Some guy in Georgia

Marketplace: Sears.com

That explains how I got a great deal on the product, and really fast shipping too. That sounds like it might be the case here.

Definitely pay with Paypal for the extra layer of protection.

@netprince

Propel Direct claims to be at 436 Kato Terrace, Fremont, CA 94539. Did your batteries ship from there, or were they shipped from elsewhere?

Even if this turns out to be a scam, thanks for trying to share what may be a good deal.

Quick update. I was very suspicious that Propel Direct had the same address as Tenergy, so I called Tenergy and told them that I was curious about this "Propel Direct" company on Newegg and Sears.com with the same address as Tenergy, and I learned that Propel Direct is Tenergy. So it's legit. Sorry for the scare. Thanks again for sharing the deal.

Interesting research leaftye. I did find the propel direct store, and the price there was the same, so I decide to order through newegg thinking it would be safer that way. I also used paypal for the payment, thinking that was safer as well.

I did order 12D cells, and got them in about a week. I placed another order that I am already tacking via USPS, so I dont expect any problems there either…

Glad to see these are not the old discontinued cells —- light blue wrapper with lower case “e” on it. Tempting.

Great, I ordered them, but I can’t charge them.

I have the C9000 and the Nightcore i4, but they don’t charge Ds.

The adapters from Ebay don’t fit the C9000 well, according to the seller, and I don’t know how they fit the Nightcore, or what the Nightcore is capable of, (it does charge C batteries).

Any cheap solutions?

The Nightcore i2 charges D's, at least I used it until I got an Opus BT-C2000. I put it in the slot and slipped a penny in at the positive end to make contact. Might work with the i4, too.

I can’t say that it works on my i4, but if I can rig up something that does, is the only qualification that it make contact?

Is this bad for the batteries, or does the i4 terminate too early, is there anything more to it than that as far as battery and charger health are concerned?

Does anyone think these adapters from ebay would work well in the i4?

Why not put the $10 towards the BT-C2000 charger? Faster charging, discharge mode, capacity measure, refresh mode.

Ordered the D cells. Thanks for the alert.

I have that D-cell adaptor and fortunately they work on my Tenergy Centuras and Imedions without any contact problems in my C9000.
I would say that the Centuras are not only cheaper, but has significantly more discharge capacities than the Imedion Ds at an average about 7960mah out of the rated 8000ma, compared to the Imedion’s 8,500ma factory claim but can only manage about an average of 7500.

Do you still get the technical advantages of the C9000 when you use the adapters?

Do you need to charge them 2 or 3 times?

Yes, but not like doing it in AA and AAA cells.

If you use the default charge of the C9000, you have to do it 2.5 times.
If you use the Break-in mode’s charge rate of .1C for 16 hours, you do it only once. Also, using this mode will discharge the D cells not at .2C (1.6A if 8000mah is input) but at 1A, the maximum of the C9000.

I just ordered the adapters, but I’m still confused about the charging, are the processes the same as for the AA, as long as I up the charge rate to .1C?

What do I need to know to avoid hurting the batteries, for instance over charging them, if I do a regular charge, how does one judge 2.5 times?

Should I do the 39 hour break in when I first get the batteries?

The C9000 will charge the D cells at the highest (default) charge at 1A. For every session, only 4000mah (the C9000’s limit) is put into the cell, and then it stops. Since about a fourth of that goes into heat, it needs to be done about 2.5X for the 8000mah cell to be fully-charged. You will know that the cell is fully-charged when DONE appears and the charged voltage is already about 1.44V (on the .5th time of the 2.5X)

In the Break-In mode, the C9000 will charge it up to 12,000mah by the time the 16-hr timer (960min) stops, thereby charging it fully. I recommend using a small fan when using this mode.

It will be good for your brand-new cells to have them go through the Break-In mode.

Thanks, was great information.

8000mAh isnt too shabby for the D cells.

Too bad they don’t ship to Aus.

I just finished doing a Break-In of my 4 Tenergy Centuras. Yeah, they are the better cells with the 3 finishing out at an average of 7,950mah and the last one at a surprisingly high 8,560mah available discharge capacity.
