Trustfire x6 SST90 $49.99 shipped (possible scam, read comments)

Hi all,

OK, I’m new here so please let me know if this is not a good deal or if I should not be posting some of this e-bay type stuff.

Over the past week I have been following this seller who is unloading Trustfire x6 SST-90 lights. He was doing so with 24 hour no reserve auctions. I nailed mine for $35 this morning after distracting you all with some batteries

I also see along with the auctions he has now posted it with a buy it now of $49 shipped, 3x 18650 batteries included.

I won’t receive mine for a few weeks so sorry I did not check it out first before posting, but seemed like a good deal so FYI…

Folks, I updated this based on BLF’ers comments. This seller has some fishy feedback, see the discussion below.

The LED cost as much as the selling price $50. Shipping for that big chunk of aluminum must be $10. The rest don't even worth mentioning, so the seller wants to build feedback and basically has a budget for advertizing, I guess.

It's a scammer. Look at the reviews. That's a common pattern for scammers.

This is one of those deals that makes my spidey senses tingle. What I mean is, for $35 it seems a bit too good to be true.

Seller has 104 feedback, with only four items sold over $10, and the overwhelming majority of the other feedback is from the same item. The four items over $10, are also the most recent feedback.

That's not to say this is guaranteed to be a scam, but it has happened many times in the past, where a light pops up on ebay for a price that is just a bit too good to pass. Weeks later some baubles usually arrive. The absolute slowest method of shipping is used. The goal is to stretch things out as much as possible, so people forget, and don't open disputes.

Please keep a very close eye on the dates, and make sure you open a dispute if you don't receive anything within four weeks.

Good price and iirc can be modded

Personally I don’t think it is a scam. Why try to scam with a 3 or 4 year old light in a 24 hour auction? Just looks like he got his hands on and old inventory lot and is offing it. He also has recent positive feedback for lights over $40.

But then again I am also rationalizing because I just bought one!

BTW, the $35 was for an auction, but he has now set an upper limit for his auctions now with the $49 buy it now…

Oh yeah, just noticed the Make Offer button… Hope no one makes an accepted offer for less than $35!!!

Maybe you and zeremifico will get lucky.

You should be protected if you file a dispute, so at worst you don't get to use that money for something else for a while.

it looked like a scam to me alright… typical Chinese scammer… sold cheap items just to build up some rating… and they usually joined less than a year.
and suddenly started selling cheap and in demand flashlight at ridiculously cheap prices… they even will send you something with slow mail so you ebay can get tracking #.

they’re just hoping to snare few unsuspected naives and they don’t know how to file with paypal within 45 days.
but don’t worry, you’re covered by paypal… just hate dealing with all the dramas that you have to follow with paypal :weary:

I got one too. If its a scam (and it probably is), I’ll do the usual PP dispute.

Hey thanks for digging this up! Zeremefico has a few weeks on me so I’ll keep an eye on that thread, same seller.

Since I was looking for one of these for a host it is worth the “risk”. I’m putting risk in quotes because e-bay has always been great resolving disputes/issuing refunds. I know I am an overly trusting rube by believing most people are genuinely honest… last week I even received a $3 C10 won from a zero feedback China e-bayer. Now that’s trusting!

There was a scammer not long ago that followed exactly same pattern - building feedback by car led bulbs than switching to expensive flashlights, including 85w HID flashlights for less than $50.
Also all feedbacks left for flashlights were left within few days after purchase - no way the buyer already got the item.

Ah, thank you sir.

I just looked at the recent positive feedback for the expensive lights and that is what I am seeing here.

I’m going to update the title with “possible scam”

Thank you everyone for your feedback, I’m getting jittery about this one.

Has anyone received their light or a tracking number yet? I just emailed the seller for a tracking number. I noticed that he no longer has items listed for sale on his ebay account so its probably another scam.

Lol, this thread reminds me of something that happened a few days ago. Our lease is up, and we are in the process of moving to a bigger house. My fiancee find's this house on Trulia for rent for $900. She shows me the house and I am blown away. I tell her that house should be like $1800 a month, and that it's probably a scam. We stopped by the house and it had a for sale sign in the yard. Later that day, we get an email from the "Owner" of the house that had it up for rent. Here is what it said:

Hello,
Thanks for your email, I personally own the house, we want our property to be well taken good care, and there are some Precaution in which i do give out to tenant willing to rent my house which brings about safety of a home, so please don't be offended. But if you are still capable of renting my house the precaution goes this way...
You must keep my house clean including the surrounding, you must know the way in which you use the stove so as to avoid fire outbreak, you must not disturb the neighbor. We decided to rent out the property due to our transfer to Ukraine. My Family and I just traveled to Ukraine for a program Empowering Youth to Fight Racism, HIV/AIDS, Poverty and Lack of Education with Dove Christian Fellowship International on a Missionary Work, so we are renting it out since we need someone to take good care of the property on my absence and the house will be available for a period of 5 years. The program is taking place in four major countries which are Uganda, Japan, Haiti and Ukraine. Have this in mind you must know the kind of person that i am. Nevertheless i am giving you this Precautions because of what corresponded between me and my last tenant. The keys and documents are with us here in Ukraine ... so i will need to ship them to you before you can occupy the house but you can drive by the house anytime to take a look.
I want you to understand that I spent a lot on my property that you have requested to rent, so I will solicit for your absolute maintenance of this house and would want you to treat it as your own because cleanliness they say is next to Godliness. It is not all about the money to be paid on rent or spent; it is all about a good maintenance culture which I want you to adopt on the property. I want you to keep it tidy all the time so that I would be full of smiles whenever I come and above all, a good, strong and tight relationship between us when I come for a check up. Please one more thing, I wouldn't like to have any benefit of trust in you because I want to stand in your words that the property would be well taken care of all the time. I believe you have see how lovely it is if from only the pictures you saw in my posting compare to the 100% comfort to be derived from it as you are an occupant.
We will be away for a while that is why we made up our mind to put up our house for rent to whom ever that will take good care of it. Please i want you to note that i spent a lot on my property that i want to give to you for rent, so i will solicit for your absolute maintenance of this house and want you to treat it as your own.

Scammer Tries To Rent Their House Out to Craigslist Reader

Hahaha, I started laughing at my fiancee hysterically, and she was frowning so hard!

Moral of the story: If it's too good to be true, it probaby it!"

Ive taken advantage of far more ridiculously great deals than Ive lost (several of them posted on BLF). Of those that didnt pan out, Ive never lost a single cent.

Same here. Heck I just saw 3, yes 3, Niteye Eye30 Desert Sand Edition end $48-$60 in the last 36 hours on ebay. All three sellers had the same 5 items, and exact same listings! All three had 0 feedback. I was so tempted to bid, but didn't feel like wasting time.

Oh, I think he has some more listings still going, lets see!

ALL SCAMS - BID AT YOUR OWN RISK!!!

I was watching this seller’s feedback closely after winning the auction. Feedback started rolling in that he was sending kids balloons and empty boxes. Then the seller made his feedback private. WTF? That really made me loose all respect for e-bay’s feedback system, let a seller hide their feedback.

Since his feedback score is tanking you should go ahead and file your claim so you can get your money back sooner. Sorry for the original post and that you got suckered in too.

Scam. 0:)

Those are all good tips on what to look out for, but I didnt really care either way. Its all part of ebays business model for acceptable losses, but not mine. It wasnt that much money and Ive gambled far higher amounts with other chinese ripoff artists. I was pretty sure it was a scam, but a lot of these deals have paid out well for me in the past. As for ebay, its nothing more than a shitty organization that skirts on the very cusp of legality and fraud. Ebay is probably the worlds largest legal online scam organization. I couldnt even guess what they must pay out each year in legal advisement fees, but it must certainly be a massive amount. They constantly change their membership agreements several times a year to find new ways of allowing and concealing the scamming of its members, all while making their extremely shitty dispute process increasingly difficult to navigate. Ive ran through their dispute process several times so it doesnt faze me in the least… and I have won every dispute I have ever filed. Ebay’s foreign call center CSR’s remind me of the folks from banggood and wallbuys with their ignorance and gross incompetence, but with IQ levels above 25.

Yes it is a scam, i received today 2 yellow balloons
