I am currently using JETBeam MG20 Silicone Grease from FT. It does the job but the grease looks greyish/ dirty after short period.
I really like the clear type of lubricant that comes with Convoy’s flashlights. May I know where can I get those? Reasonable price and specialize for flashlight perhaps.
Had no idea I could get this at HD, thanks for that. I always use the grease version from Harbor Freight on threads so I emailed superlube and got a sample of the oil and I agree its great stuff. I now use the food grade superlube oil (FDA approved for direct food contact from the local restaurant depot) for my knives but I dont like to use it for other stuff cause of how much it costs (about 4x more than this) so I’ll be picking some of this up right away.
Recently, I’ve just been brushing Deoxit Gold onto my tailcap threads. Seems to provide sufficient lubrication while also hopefully helping the electrical connection.
I bought some on ebay, $7.85 shipped for I think 2oz, haven’t tried it yet, but its supposed to be a conductive grease, so might be better than a general lube.
Rubber orings don’t like some kinds of goop, so use some caution, ie don’t buy a new goop and put it on everything you own. HF free flashlights are great for testing stuff like this.
Thank you guys. Will hunt for Super Lube Oil with Syncolon (PTFE) at my local specialized stores. Unfortunately, they are rather rare in my country.
Will order from online store and pay for international shipping if they are not carrying.
I’ve been using the Super Lube Synthetic Grease rather than the oil. I’ve never tried the oil so I don’t know which is better. The Super Lube Grease may turn greyish/dirty eventually…
I bought 2 of these 2 years ago and I’ve only ever had to apply it once on my lights.
Granted I don’t unscrew my lights very often but if you’re looking for something cheap that works then you can’t do wrong with this.
Also note: Do not use petroleum jelly/vaseline as lubrication. It will eat into and weaken the o-rings after a while.
I also use nexttorch silicone grease and it is an excellent grease!
I also use this super lube oil for years(since 2008) which turns rough squeekee flashlight threads in a nice smooth action threads. It has needle applier and you need very little of it for nice action on your threads. It does not damage o'rings. It will also find its use for everything you need around the house(something just proper lubing resolves a lot of problems).
I’ve been using Mobil 1 Synthetic Grease . It has a strong odor whenever I unscrew the tailcaps, but it works well and is cheap. Works great for lots of things around the home and cars too.
I bought a little tub of JETBeam silicon grease then realised that I had a tube of silicon grease from the local car shop, this will be used when the JETBeam is used up, I can’t see the difference.
I have personally tried every budget lube from China plus nyogel plus SuperLube PTFE. None compare to this, as long as you follow the instructions! Heat the flashlight threads to around 130 apply the grease let it cool wipe off the excess. Since it bonds with the metal I have not had to reapply for 1 year just keep’em clean!
