Niteye EYE10 and TIC edition battery compatibility [Solved]

I was looking at some flashlights and liked the looks of these two. (Yes I know they are practically the same thing)

The problem is the descriptions say max working voltage is 3.2v and to use CR123A batteries. I don't have any CR123A batteries and don't want to have to keep buying them for the sole purpose of powering these flashlights.

I am wondering if the flashlights will be able to take li-ions like 16340 or possibly 18350 without harming the driver.

Thanks.

It will probably go into direct drive.

You can see a bit rechargeable CR123 batteries here: http://lygte-info.dk/info/CR123A%20and%20rechargeable%20substitutes%20UK.html

I use an eFest IMR18350 in my TiC and even emailed Niteye who said it was fine but recommended not to run it for longer than 3 mins on high with these batteries.

I have had the regular EYE10 for almost a year now, and been using an AW IMR 18350 and a Kinoko IMR 18350 in mine ever since I got it. Runs a lot longer vs a 16340, and puts out twice as many lumens, about 650-750 lumens. You will be fine using 18350!

I have also run my Niteye on its highest output for 10+ minutes straight, many, many times, an works as good as new to this day. It does get very, very hot after 5 minutes though on highest setting

One of my favorite lights of all time, just look at that little bugger in my signature!

Thank you all for your answers.
I guess it is safe to use 16340 and 18350 batteries for short time on max output.

Iā€™m going to be saving up for some nice shiny new flashlights.
