Will get 1 SG5-NW. This will be my first headlight.

BTW, does the package include the head strap? Or you need to buy it separately?

As far as I know it only comes one way in retail packaging. It comes with the strap and the clip.

I’m tempted by the SG5 but I already have so many headlamps including a Spark 18650 model. I use it everyday at work.

Does anyone know the voltage of either the 5 series or the 3 series? The website does not show the information. I am just wondering how low they stay in regulation.

The data on the website shows both the 3 and 5 series at 1.6 to 4.2 volts.

Edit: This review lists 0.9 to 4.2 volts. I was wondering how it could run on an eneloop if it required 1.6 volts.

What! Is that too much J)
Zebralight and Spark (among others like Armytek) are seriously overpriced + chinese carbon is really cheap especially because you don’t need high strength and thickness carbon like for bicycle components/frames…
A year ago or so I was really excited about bike light that they were getting ready to release (SDB100) and when they finally did, price was like $160+ and I was like:

Thank you!

I have a Zebralight H502d (as well as many other flashlights), which is a good flashlight and one I use nearly every day, but the fact that it starts off in High1 or H2 is a negative. I like the fact that the SGx has memory mode as Medium will provide enough light and has quite a long battery life.

-Is the only difference between the SG SF the head mounting hardware?
-For $44 are you guys essentially buying it because it is a good headlamp or because it serves as a good torch also?

I believe the SF series comes with both flood and spot reflector. But its a flashlight form factor, light comes out the front.

The SG series only comes with a flood reflector (spot reflector is extra) but it is in Headlamp form-factor, where the light comes out the side. I also like the SG3's small size personally, as it takes 16340 batteries. This is all I know between the SF and SG series. Maybe others can chime in about more differences.

Ahh I see, I was confused by the switch on the SF, thought it was the light coming out the side also.

Doesn’t the SF3 also use 16340 batteries? And also the SG and SF look to be identical size.

Ya, the SF3 takes 16340 as well, but is not a headlamp, like the SG3 is.

Sorry for the off-topic, but you know your Zebralight can also start in Low (several low available), if you do a ~0,6s press on the switch? It can even start on medium if you do a longer press (the light will switch on in low then go to medium) Wink
My Zebralight H31fc is currently my favourite EDC…hope the Sparks will replace it!

Guys, Wallbuys will be having a sale on SF5 NW for $42.99 starting on April 30th. This is a good news for those interested in SF5 if this GB doesn’t happen.

well we need 10 more pieces still for this to fly

chibim has been talking with WB as well to see if they can get their typical sale/GB for $43 for all 4 of these lights/headlamps so maybe if we dont meet the minimum required pieces we can just order from wallbuys individually.

Would you mind keeping the wrong flashlight?

Think I’d rather go with HKEquipment than Wallbuys, even if it is a dollar or so more. Stanley is a good honest dealer.

I’m in for a SG5. Nice work, jmpaul.

Put me down for a NW SF5. I’ve been toying with the idea of getting a Zebralight SC52w, but this might do the trick instead (unless someone can point me to a great deal on the Zebralight).

But this effort is proceeding slowly and I wont wait forever, so I reserve the right to purchase something else in the meantime (if I do, I’ll report back here immediately).

I never bought from HKE but I’d rather buy something from Hong Kong because the shipping is faster than from China. 5 days vs 25-40 days.

Fun fact: I just bought a SG5 NW from HKE the other day. Hadn’t I done so I would be all over this group buy.
Good luck to you all, I hope this one works out for you.

Thanks Lithium!

I did not know that (it’s not in the manual). Unfortunately, the low is too low for most of my applications. At least I learnt something!

Switch your light in low, then double click on the swicth to access the Low n°2. And if the low n°2 still doesn’t suit your needs, you can also program it by switching to low n°1 (by double click), then by 6 (or 7, don’t remember) double click, you should have access to 3 possibilities (double click after the 6 or 7 double click to switch between the different low).
If one of these suits you, than switch off the light (simple click) and it will be memorized. After that you’ll have the choice of the low n°1 plus the “low you programmed” by double clicking when in low. This applies to all modes I think, at least on latests Zebra.

Sorry again for the off-topic, if it’s not clear, or it you already knew all that Smile
